14 is a bit too low for my liking. I'd settle for 16, which is far more realistic.

Absolutely not. The funds appropriated to stop the flow of narcotics into this country is a failed policy. Financial commitments aside, the human cost is even more staggering.
But lowering the age of consent to what "over half of the civilized world" thinks is not comparable. Not even relatable. There are plenty of logical reasons why the age of consent exists in this country. Now if I didn't already know that you were a lonely midget, petrified of social interaction and void of human companionship I wouldn't be able to question your source of inspiration. That's exactly what makes this creepy.
If I were Kori Ellis I would be extremely concerned with this advocation of sexual contact with children. I wouldn't want the potential legal repercussions.
I think 17 is fair. I know a few states already have that as the minimum. I also think that making 17 a "hard line" when dealing with people near the same age is somewhat silly. (Ie if the kid just turned 18, and the girl is late 17, I think it could be considered consensual).
16 is just slightly too young in my estimation.
What about 14?
To be honest, the different "age limits" are relatively arbitrary anyways.
Driving at 16, able to join the military at 17, voting/consent/smoking/gambling at 18, drinking at 21... Alot of these could easily be bumped up or down a year or two.
I view it as too young. I don't think children at the age of 14 are necessarily mature enough to understand the ramifications of sexual activity.
I think anything more than a five year age gap before the age of 25 is a little weird.
I'd add a mix of what you said to my 16 figure, mind you, if I can further elaborate.
Let's be realistic: In average, people today have their first sexual experience around the 14-15 age mark. Age 16 would be fair, if what LnGrrrR adds, the sexual partner is around the same age.
Of course, imagine what would be to police that.
So I guess the traditional 18 year old is the way to go.

Hawaii had age of consent at 14 until 2001, when they raised to 16.
It's also worth noting that one of the key motives for my OP was to explore why the United States has such a conservative at ude toward sex, which is reflected by our AOC laws, compared to Europe. It's perfectly okay to show MMA fighting on prime time television or other such violent content, but there's a moral outrage when Janet Jackson has a wardrobe malfunction.
And as Jaspers' quoted earlier, there's "plenty of logical reasons why the age of consent in the US is what is," so I take it he thinks the Europeans are illogical?
