Agree with you right now Sequ, Bonner was a black hole tonight on defense but we ran out of gas at the end especially defensively but I'm not worried we just need to wrap this home court up
it's not even about Bonner - it just seems that the coaching staff continues to try and outsmart itself in tough situations. Hopefully they're getting it out of their system before the playoffs.
The only good that come out of these losses is big ole slap in the face to the staff on what the Spurs' weaknesses truly are.
I do have one question though - we have 4 back up SF's and one of those can't play while the other 3 don't get any playing time. Why couldn't we have used one of those spots for a scrub big (i.e. Cousin)?
Bonenr is what he is, it's just the the coaching staff seems to think he is something more.
Bonner had 5 huge points in the first part of the 4th, put us up by 3. He should have been benched at that time.
I have not been a Bonner hater in the past... but bringing Matt back in when Blair was playing well AND Randolph was owning us down low made no sense whatsoever.
WHY? He has shown time and time again later in the year he does this, why would this be any different as I said to his backers in threads? He is what he is and that is what he is, a great first half shooter with bad D and can't board, then second half he does NOTHING good.
Faith in coaching staff severely shaken. They're essentially betting everything on Bonner. It's been remarked over and over how our opponents attack Bonner's defense. I've even heard opposing announcers mention this as well, it's so obvious.
Spurs coaching staff think of Matt Bonner as the new Robert Horry. Having him in the game as crunchtime 4, on either end of the court, is an absolute joke.
Probably. Would have avoided giving up 10+ thereafter by failing to grab a board, or guarding anybody.
And after he made that 3 he tried a stupid steal against Gasol that lead to a open 3 for Mayo
I don't even blame Bonner anymore. I blame the stupid delusions of this coaching staff who think he's capable of guarding stronger bigs. Emphasis on defense, my ass. You have a Brazilian center who sits on the bench who plays outstanding D but because he doesn't shoot 3's, he deserves no playing time.
When Duncan comes back, Bonner or Blair has to be in Tiago's spot.
I finally have to believe that Bonner holds some controversial pictures of the FO or something close to that...At least that's the only attempt of explanation that could make me feel a lil better
Looks like Bonner will be hoisting the Corporate Knowledge trophy again this summer during the Spurs annual fishing retreat.
Exactly. I said it in the game thread that he needs to be pulled and not overplayed, but they went and did it again. Just keep overplaying him.
I don't know how they keep doing it but he is the most overplayed ty player on a boarder line Championship contender in NBA history.
You know what if the players go to see TD when they get back home he should tell them "I ain't coming back until you ers win 1 game"
