I agree that if they are healthy, they should play.
If they aren't healthy though, they shouldn't be out there forcing the issue. And I don't think this is just a matter of Pop resting players.
Parker has played like kaka the past couple of games.
Deep, hittin' the nail on the perverbial head. Pop playin' games, like Manu did last night and got hurt because of it. Like player///like coach.

You ain't the only one, brother. Stole it from another poster awhile back, but can't for the life of me remember the model's name.
This is absolutely freakin' GENIUS!
Instead of the lakers settling for the #2 seed and resting some important pieces...
they will go all out to try for the #1 seed...
ONLY to have the spurs SMASH the gas pedal again right before the season ends...
Priceless!
Spurs will STILL get the #1 seed...but the lakers will be a bit worn out...
then will gear up to play.....

MEMPHIS
Genius!
Good for Tony, he was out of it last night. He's been a workhorse. Put the owness on the bench.
Agreed. And it's not just about having the number one seed, it's about how they'd lose it, if they lose it. It would be beyond demoralizing. It could potentially crush their psyche to the point where they're unable to recover and are eliminated earlier than expected.
With two days off after this, this game should have been about winning at all costs, repairing confidence and sending a message to the Trail Blazers and Grizzlies of the world. Not worrying about managing minutes or sitting key players out with paper cuts. Instead, they could easily be staring at a five game losing streak and potentially more and have to run their key players into the ground until game 82 to secure home court. They should be going hard now, in this next handful of games and trying to have it wrapped up going into that final back-to-back, so that the big three and McDyess can get a week off before the playoffs.
Well here's to you for posting it!Many thanks!
I guess it doesn't matter if its first or second seed, not like the spurs beating the lakers in wcs, with home court or without. They would need a miracle to pull of the upset.
Uh, Parker had a monster third quarter and gave use the lead while Manu was out yesterday. Things are looking bleak right now, but I agree that resting the players/player healthy is more important than seeding.
I'm just worried about the ridiculous confidence L.A. is building right now. They're steamrolling people while we're struggling to compete and remain healthy.
Pop has been far from perfect, but health over seeding (or threat of loss of seeding) is the correct call
I bet my money on Blazers tonight. 2 times. Few hours ago, when they're paying 2.35 on Blazers win, and some minutes ago (2.0). Bwin, easy money.
Except NO sucks and will end up with the 8th seed. If the Spurs aren't careful they're going to end up tanking their way into Memphis.
should I.... should I even watch this game?

One positive injury update: Ran into Manu Ginobili walking into the arena tonight. Looked much better than leaving Memphis last night.
Please. You don't think Parker and McDyess are fully capable of playing this game? You don't think Duncan and Ginobili wouldn't be playing if this were the playoffs? Why do the Spurs always think they have to pick one over the other?
The Lakers pick both and it always works out for them. I didn't see Bryant miss a game when he looked to have messed up his ankle. I didn't see them resting Odom when he had shoulder soreness earlier in the season. They're not resting Fisher now just because he's old. Are they paying for it now? But every time a Spur has a paper cut, they're out indefinitely.
Shay Laren.
I'm still excited to see Tiago and James Anderson on the court tonight. Let's see how they will play.. This is not an easy game for the blazers, especially with batum and roy also out. I'm looking forward to a spurs win tonight.
is this what we have to look forward to post-Championship era
I can't believe tonight's line up.
Anderson is playing well!
The silver lining is that Pop might be forced to play Splitter in the 4th qtr. tonight.
Expect Blair and Bonner sigh groan
cia pop resting his big three and vet mcdyess
im hoping...
All 4 would be playing if this was a playoff game right? RIGHT?
it's good to see those players not suited up for the game.. they're getting the fkn rest they need.. that's what ive been clamoring for during those pointless games they played earlier this month.. it's just unfortunate that injuries had to happen for pop to get the message
