Emergency workers struggling to pump contaminated water from Japan's stricken nuclear complex fled one of the troubled reactors Sunday after reporting a huge e in radioactivity, with levels 10 million times higher than normal in the reactor's cooling system, officials said.
I'm sorry Symple19 but me trying to educate the ignorant in this topic is not worth it anymore. See you guys in 5 years have fun trying to hide the skin sores on your radioactive taints.
Damn. A 6.5 earthquake off the coast of japan. Small tsunami alert issued.
- Authorities issued a tsunami advisory Monday morning for coastal areas of Miyagi Prefecture in northeastern Japan after a 6.5-magnitude quake struck the region, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The agency said the tsunami height was expected to be about 0.5 meters, or 1.6 feet, tall. Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that the tsunami was believed to have passed. Video of the coastal area in the tsunami zone broadcast by NHK showed slight ripples to the water, which "could be indicative of rises" in water levels, CNN meteorologist Jacqui Jeras said.
The Monday temblor was located near the site of the 9.0-magnitude March 11 earthquake that triggered a massive tsunami, killing thousands and spawning a nuclear emergency at a severely damaged power plant in Fukushima Prefecture.
The 7:24 a.m. earthquake struck Monday about 70 miles east of Sendai at a depth of 3.7 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A Pacific-wide destructive tsunami is not expected, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

the ignorant, you, can't educate. plain and simple, period.
Anybody seen this video of the Tsunami????
Mother Nature...wow...
Radioactive milk found on West Coast
Drinks on me!

Thought I'd find another gem of yours in here.....
Some quotes from the article:
That translates to levels on the picocurie level or in terms of nuclear decays (disintegrations) per second (bequerels) its roughly one per 5.5 seconds. I'm too lazy today to look up gamma constants for a quick dose rate calc. Sorry. But the amount of radioactive iodine-131 detected in milk is more than 5,000 times lower than what the FDA calls the “Derived Intervention Level” – the concentration of radionuclide activity adopted by the FDA to help determine whether domestically-produced food or food imported into the US presents a safety concern.
1 Ci (curie) = 3.7 x 10^10 Bequerels (Bq)
Pico = 1 x 10^-12 (ie one trillionth of one)
Also, keep in mind that I-131 concentrates in milk. The levels found there will be substantially higher than in other foods/drinks.
“According to them, a pint of milk at these levels would expose an individual to less radiation than would a five-hour airplane flight,” Gov. Gregoire said. “Since the situation in Japan we have been monitoring for radiation. We will continue our monitoring and work closely with the EPA, FDA and CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention]. At no point have detection levels come close to levels of concern.”
You sure know how to milk a topic.
I have to when dealing with someone who is already genized

Cerenkov radiation is blue actually. The beta from I 131 is quite energetic (606.3 kev). Wonder if you could see it with milk being turbid and all..... interesting.
Cute. Talk to yourself much?
How about you grab your pocket slide rule you carry around like that unused rubber in your 1997 Velcro wallet Uncle Leo gave you and maybe find a cow. You can then put your scientific background to use instead of TRolling the forums. (heads up)
If I was a "Scientist" I would to be busy conducting experiments to help maybe cure a deadly disease or try to warn people about the dangers of radiation, and maybe not tell them this radioactive Milk is the same as using Scope mouthwash
Sometimes you have to if you really want "Intelligent" conversations.Cute. Talk to yourself much?
Why whats up in the politics forum you cut and paste another book?

If you had more knowledge on these topics, you wouldn't be speaking so ignorant about them.
You fail to understand how man made it to the moon, and believe it's all a conspiracy. Think anyone with a scientific mind takes you serious?
Hint... They did use slide rules.
And you fail to warn everyone about the radiation that is now in the food and drink department like i said it would be so who here needs to be educated?
Ps: feel free to slide that ruler up your online degree tight ass esse.
Did the fact that the levels tested are ridiculously low, and lower than background radiation mean anything to you?
So what. They tested levels of Iodine-131 that is... what was it? 20 pico curies?
Wow....
That really is bothersome. Stick those bananas up your tailpipe why don't you.
You and Erkel just don't get it. There is no such thing as "safe" amount of "nuclear Radiation" This is not the tanning booth or Xray machines this kills biooch!
Wow....
That really is bothersome. Stick those bananas up your tailpipe why don't you.
Rack!

And we're supposed to take your "warnings" seriously.
We do, every day. Unfortunately you don't listen to the "experts" so what would you know of it anyway?
lol scopolamine
fify
I've helped to write more than a few book chapters in my time. Can you claim the same?
Hey Mouse...you know that contract SAWs just signed to pump water from the Carizzo aquifer to San Antonio? That stuff is radioactive...my ranchito is in the Carrizo upthrust and those aquifer sands have MINABLE quan ies of uranium in them.

Green eggs and ham!!!
LOL...one more thing for Mouse to worry about when he finally gets up and stumbles to his computer...
The Charts don't lie.
