And Happy April Fools Day!
First of all let me say it has been a great pleasure and a privilege to be involved with this forum for the past 7 years. But as time passes things happen that force one to re-evaluate his position and priorities. I will forever be thankful to the Ellis family for giving me the opportunity to be involved with this site much more than I ever thought I would be with an internet forum.
The situation is as follows.
The incredible stupidity of the trolling on this site has proven to me beyond any doubt that people are not to be trusted and that freedom of expression is highly overrated.
An investor group has approached me and Muki with a lucrative offer to take over the system administrations of a network of sports forums under the tutelage of one of the major international media organizations. We will start managing their existing network, slowly adding both sites/forums and servers, until we will have completely restructured their network in a way similar to the decentralized network of servers that Google uses (obviously in a slightly smaller number).
As a lifelong Spurs fan I convinced them to also include a dedicated forum to the San Antonio Spurs and I'm happy to say that negotiations for the buyout of SpursReport have been successfully concluded and that I'm looking forward to a completely refurbished site, that will become the model towards which we will steer all the others.
The main motivation (beside financial) has been the disenchantment with the freedom of speech that I'm witnessing here. I now for the first time in my life understand the Communist's approach to this subject, which is ironic since growing up under that system never achieved what the last year here in Spurstalk did.
It is quite clear that the new site will be heavily moderated almost to the point of censorship, but because humans are ultimately flawed, we are developing software that will do the censoring on a massive scale automatically for us (the idea came from timvp's brilliant solution to the misspelling of Elliott's name). Other features will also include pay-per-use of emoticons (some will be animated!) and a subscription based library of photoshopped pictures of opposing teams players.
So dear fellow Spurs fans join me in this new utopia were for the small price of personal freedom we will give you a structured, well organized and well policed forum, where thoughts will not only be monitored, but will ultimately become unnecessary.
I understand that some of you will disagree with my new stance, but allow me to offer you as an example the exquisite narrow-mindedness of the Lakers fanbase that is producing such wonderful results all over these interwebs. Who here can argue against my wish to become more like them (just a more disciplined and possibly uniformed version of them).
