Remember when we were supposed to be a lottery team and fighting for a playoff spot
Just a thread to remember the failed prognostication before the season started... Feel free to add...
Remember when...
- James Anderson was going to backup RJ
- Bonner was going to play 15 mpg and be the 5th big
- Tiago Splitter and Tim Duncan will bring back the twin towers
- Blair was working on a jumper
Remember when we were supposed to be a lottery team and fighting for a playoff spot
I remember when Bob Hill got fired too
Nope. I knew Bonner would be a big part of the rotation from the start. That's why I had my doubts. Popovich is so predictable.
LOl at soon as Bonner was reupped I knew better! He is a key to Pop and always will be, he can't help it! PERIOD end of story.
Yup...it was clear as day.
To be fair, Anderson did miss a ton of games because of injury.
Everything else...
Tiago did also...doesn't mean they should both not be given some run now...
Remember when the Spurs traded Ice to Chicago for David Greenwood?
Will someone tell the Lakers that they can't start Bynum and Gasol together becuase none of them shoot 3 pointers?
Just a sec............
okay there....done.![]()
we were a seventh seed and was expected to be knocked out of first round.
Do you remember when Ed Nealy banked in a layup to win a game in the late 80's
...Pop's brain functioned correctly? I barely do.
We showed more late last year though! We this year spite our record has been horrible the last few weeks bro!
Remember when Pop sucked and was about to get canned and then Duncan came along and Pop is now the #2 best coach in the league?
Man this is so clear, POP Duncan carried your ass most of your career......
Pop was the GM and VP. Who was going to fire him?
Remember when we figured Gary Neal wouldnt be here for long
Remember when James Anderson was supposed to make the All-Rookie Team, because he was totally balling before he got injured.![]()
Remember when defense meant something to Pop and he actually signed/played his best defensive role players like Bowen and Horry instead of POS like RJ and Bonner. Can't even blame Bonner - he is what he is and Pop's the one who overplays him. But RJ - the game against POR with all the other starters out, he scores a measly 7 points and gets outplayed by the likes of Green, Quinn, Hill and Splitter. C'mon.
Remember that time when Manu had the flu in the playoffs but just went nuts hitting shot after shot. Then making that three and turning to the bench and shrugging his shoulders. Eventually winning another le that year.
I partially disagree.
Bonner is a 3 pt shooter but has shown little effort or improvement on the "D" which you can attribute some to Bonner. We know his a good shooter, he would be much more of an asset if his effort on "D" would improve, effort is on the player mainly, but I agree it is on Pop to see this and not play him as much. The way it is now Pop should play him in certain situations only, he should be playing less for sure. If Pop is going to stick with 3 pt shooters I would rather see Novak in the game than Bonner.
RJ had worked with the coaches over the summer and was signed for more years because he was better in the system...
Remember how we weren't supposed to be 1st in the league 7 games before the end of the season?
(still 2 games ahead)
What's happening to the spurs right now happened to ALL THE CONTENDERS during the season...
I happen to the spurs at the worst time, but it just can't last long...
Silver lining : Bonner choking before PO can open Pop's eyes about his (lack of) efficiency under pressure.
Had it happen during the PO only, it would have been too late to find another gameplan/tactic ...
