why hasn't someone shoved Bonner down some stairs yet? We're talking about our last chance at a le with Timmy, and Bonner is dragging down the Spurs.
Dude...this is obviously and purely Duncan's sole decision. Not a single thing is going to force him out of San Antonio or off of the basketball court, unless it's himself. And I'd have to disagree on the point, anyway. While Duncan is a s of his former self, sadly, he's still far superior than any other big man on this team. What frustrates me the most is that this has been true forever since Robinson retired. The Spurs have done nothing over the years in order to get another quality big next to Duncan.

The reason Pop keeps Red in when he's shooting so poorly is that he makes up for it on the defensive end. He provides great film to analyze how not to play defense. That is a valuable asset in this league.
Where is the rimshot smiley?
We need one.
Well I disagree,Tiago's footwork is WAY better/quicker than Duncans at this point down on the block.Sure he's not a shot blocker but he disrupts in the post similar to TD due to his size.Plus Tiago can bang w/ just about anyone on the block which Duncan was never great at and definitely cant do now.
I like our chances w/ Tiago on Bynum etc vs Duncan tbh.Sure TD is better in some aspects but he honestly doesn't get enough touches in this offense to make use of those parts of his game that are better than Splitter's IMHO.
Overall, Duncan is much more effective than Tiago. I'd love to see Tiago get more minutes, I of course agree he should play more and should have logged way more minutes this season, but unfortunately Gregg got doesn't see it this way. Tiago still needs a lot of work in his overall game, especially offense. Sometimes his offensive reactions are too slow and he doesn't go up as strong or explosively/aggressively, but that can change pretty easily. He's a decent post defender, much better than Bonner obviously, but saying "he can bang with just about anyone" is a little bit of a stretch in my opinion. He could get there, but he still needs a little more time/experience and size. I'd like to see him put on some muscle in the offseason.
But yes, I am baffled why we don't see more Duncan/Splitter combo. Pop is literally throwing this crazy season away like a jackass.
I think it was the 2008 series against the Lakers.
Pop said after the series that the defense was good enough, but the lack of offense is what caused us to lose the series. I think that was the point that he changed.
Someone would have to look it up, but I think we actually held LA to less PPG than anyone did during those playoffs, even Boston allowed them to score more in the finals.
Our offense was putrid at times though, and we lost games with huge leads of almost 20 points in 3 or 4 of the games because we went on big scoring droughts. I am sure that is when Pop decided to go for offense more.
What do you guys think?
I always prefer defense first, but I could see why Pop wanted to change.
Maybe Pop was going for a balance like LA who is never usually the best defensive team, but usually around 4th or 5th when they win and also their offense is usually top 5 as well. Right now our balance is offense maybe 5th and defense 15th or something. Pop has really screwed up IMO. It's really no better as it has completely turned around to a huge loss in defense which gives us even less of a chance to win IMO.

What is is address?
I might know someone.
j/k.
Pop really needs to not play him though.
I'll be the first to give Bonner credit for a nice all around game today vs the Suns, the qustion is will he keep it up, or is this just a teaser, or a flash in the pan?
Time will tell. Remember, this was a Suns team with no Amare and no Nash today. If we didn't blow them out, I would've worried a bit.
http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursna...spurs-triumph/Bonner’s rare game pounding the boards aids Spurs’ triumph
by Tim Griffin
...“I thought his activity on the offensive boards was more impressive than him making a couple of threes,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “He was very, very active for us in that regard. Against Phoenix, it’s real important. But just in general, his pursuit of what we call the ’50-50 balls’ was real important and he was great at it.”
Matty with a double-double
He seemed very pleased his 3Gs were falling again.
Now work on the consistency
True, but it was nice to see the Spurs hitting shots. The Spurs also tend to play down to the opponent at times too.
Is Matt gonna buck the playoff trend, or revert back ot his old self, this is a good first step, he needs to keep it up.
Like you said time will tell.
Bonner homers are starting to come back.
http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursna...9s-confidence/Redemption shot boosts Bonner’s confidence
Mike Monroe
...In need of a jolt of confidence, he got it when teammate Gary Neal passed up an open 3-pointer to get the ball to Bonner, uncovered at one of his favorite spots.
As he watched his shot settle into the net, Bonner said he felt like an innocent man who had escaped from prison after a sentence he hadn’t deserved.
“It was totally a ‘Shawshank Redemption’ shot,” he said. “I felt like I was riding down the coast of Mexico, looking at the Pacific Ocean.”

Prove ST wrong this year RED ROCKET!![]()
I would love for him to prove us wrong.
Is today a flash in the pan or a sign of things to come. Based on his past, I'd say the former, I hope I am wrong.
Those of us that know Bonner's playoff history, know exactly how Bonner is going to react during the playoffs. Complete Fail.
I don't even need to say, "I hope he makes me eat crow and proves me wrong." It will never happen-never has, never will.
The guys balls shrink at the sign of any pressure. Time to call a spade a spade. A few great regular season games does not change the history of Bonner's ty playoff career.
Well, it is looking more and more like he will get his shot at trying to overcome that stigma. Hopefully he will.
Props to Bonner. Not only did he connect on his 3's today, he bustedhis ass on the boards.
