Please tell me you've played Chrono Trigger.
And Final Fantasy 3 (VI).
Breath of Fire II
I've heard good things about Earthbound.
A got a sudden craving for some old school GBA/SNES rpgs.
The ones I really liked back in the day were:
Lufia/FF-2(the one with the dark crystals, might be 3).
Fire Emblem
Tales of Phantasia
FF tactics
Tactics Ogre
Golden Sun
If you know any games which are similar to these, or simply you consider good rpgs, please give me their names so I could check them out.
Thanks.

How can you guys forget Chrono Trigger? Also one of my favorites is Bahamut Lagoon..
It was a japanese release but there's a patch for it... it's strategy/rpg..
just noticed you had Chrono up there...
Anyways you HAVE to try Secret of Mana series... they're awesome!
I think they try to do too much with graphics at times, and take away from the rest of the game.
A little different, but a fun RPG nonetheless.
FF3 (the NES version, you will need a translated version and emulator for this. I suggest Nestopia)
get the GBA versions of these, as they are basically the exact same as the originals (slightly sharper graphics and music with cleaner translation of dialogue), but with additional challenging sidequests/dungeons.
FF4
FF5
FF6
Super Mario RPG
Chrono Trigger (DS version, has additional sidequests/dungeons as well, while being a perfect replica of the SNES version)
Secret of Mana
cant go wrong with any of these.
The Shining Force series.
This one never gets any love, seems to be the bas in the series but is one of my favorite of all time. Plus I love dungeon crawlers.

I always got frustrated with those, could never get the commands right.
I'll one-up you though....
Ever play a game called Hack?

Go to gog.com. Plenty of awesome, cheap PC RPG's there. I HIGHLY suggest Planescape: Torment. Other good RPGs are Baldur's Gate I and II, Arcanum, and Fallout 1 and 2.
Edit: Ah, just noticed you said console RPGs. Still, you should check out the PC ones.
And while it's not exactly SNES old, Xenogears is highly acclaimed.
Fallout 1/2 are ing awesome![]()
I really need to play those. I have them on a disc... somewhere.
LOL... I remember having to write something like that for a freshman CS class.
I used to get into the text of games and alter it. Made the villains, the names of people I disliked.
A link to the past
WOOOOOOOOOOOW OLDSCHOOL...
lmao I used to have this as a kid, and I hated that my parents bought it because I didn't understand ! haha all I know is when I saw those things I got scared cuz I was about to die hahaha
nice find
I'm ashamed to say I never played Chrono Trigger
Is FF3 the one that starts with 2 guys and a girl in robo suits? I think I started it, but never went far.
I think I tried installing Fallout 1/2 on my old pc, and for some reason it didn't work. My new laptop has windows 7, am I gonna have to download some kind of simulator to help out? I remember I had to when I tried to play the first Red Alert.
mega man legends is sort of like an RPG
I'm playing through Planescape Torment. That game truly is something special and different. I'm also replaying BG2. Both are tremendously deep and for anyone who hasn't tried them and enjoys RPGs, they're must-plays.
Most of the usual console classics have been covered. I would personally suggest all the dragon warriors, and the (originally) Japanese-only Final Fantasy's (FF2/3/5). All can really identified as prototypical console RPGs, as each evolved the genre further with its release.
Chrono Trigger is perhaps one of the best RPGs of all time...
You should be ashamed...
