"Karl believes that the Mavericks are a less difficult team to defend than the Thunder because Dallas is a one dimensional offensive threat."
honestly, so are the Spurs.
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap...er_In_PlayoffsIf the Western Conference works out the way the Denver Nuggets want, they'll open the playoffs against the Dallas Mavericks.
After losing to the Nuggets on Wednesday night, the Mavericks are only one game ahead of the Thunder for the third seed in the West. As a division champion, the Thunder would have the tiebreaker, even though the Mavs won the season series.
The Mavericks, who have lost their last four games and are 8-9 since a 21-1 run, are slumping as the playoffs approach. Dallas has lost its last nine games against West playoff teams.
Karl would rather face Dallas because "Oklahoma City is athletic like we are and they have two great players," referring to the Thunder's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

i agree with karl. we only have one superstar and some midget, below average jump shooters..

Oh really Karl? No one else discovered this over the past years.
The Spurs have 3 players capable of taking over a game at any particular time and the Mavericks only have Dirk. He may be better than anyone we have, but he's still one man.
yeah, and look what happened to him.
Are God & Jesus two different people, or, is it one person like playing both parts?
crofl We Stacked is in trouble if Karl is calling you out.
You never know, until you know....because, when you know, that's when you find out you never knew
Not locker room material just the facts -Mavs have a low point differential, a history of coming up small and one true star instead of two. Of course this is the way to go and as a Spurs fan everyone wants the Mavs!
And what might that dimension be?
Karl is right. I don't think the Mavs are built for playoff success. You need two go to scoring options (Dallas only has one), you need to be able to get points in the paint when shots aren't falling (nobody on the Mavs is a consistent low-post threat) and you need to be able to get to the free throw line when shots don't fall (Dallas averages 22 attempts a game, near the bottom of the league). Not a recipe for playoff success, and they have repeatedly been shown to be vulnerable against younger, more athletic teams.
I honestly think drawing the Hornets in a 3-6 matchup is our only hope to advance to a second-round curbstomping against the Lakers. Otherwise, another first-round "upset" at the hands of either the Nuggets or Blazers.
Damn, the Nuggs were 32-25 with Melo and are 16-5 without him.
i don't see how it can be called an "upset".
OKC will surprise all...Young & athletic...
3pt shot
the nuggs are the favorites in the 1st round vs. anyone including the lakers. this is because such a new stacked team, noone will know how to play them. As 2nd round comes along teams will know how to beat them.
crofl the Nuggets the favorites against the Lakers. Jesus, thats re ed, even for you![]()
The lakers struggle in 1st rounds. Didn't OKC take them to 6 hard games? Maybe not favorites but definitely not a surprise if Nuggs win.
That was a Stretch like series of comments ^
this is why the mavs needed stephen jackson.
Before they went 6 with OKC, they handled Denver in 4 back to back years.
not defending any body that believes the nuggets can upset the Lakers, but I do think the nuggets are a better team or least more balanced now than with melo. In the past you shut down melo you win.
You mean COTY george karl?
