With Perkins gone, everything changed for the Celtics and they knew it: the toughness, the tenacity, the presence in the post.

“He was tough,” Rose said. “We could defend on someone that was big. He was really tough to go around. … They’re different.”

Different doesn’t mean better. It means diminished. The Bulls beat the Celtics 44-22 in the paint, beat them badly on the boards, too. They assailed the Celtics the way the Celtics used to assail everyone else.

“We know we can beat them,” Rose flatly said.

    I hope D Rose's mouth didn't write a check his ass can't cash.

    He's also overrating Porkins.

I don't think it's possible to overrate Perkins at this point... aren't the results pretty obvious?

Rose is right and I'm sure the rest of the contenders feel the same way. I know the Lakers do. I'm sure Miami is licking their chops too.

I agree with everything you said except for the bolded. It's all about matchups. Miami has advantages on many teams but not against Boston. Their defensive sets frustrates the out of LeHype and D-Whistle. And I don't trust Miami's frontline against Boston in the playoffs. Bosh is still the RuPaul of big men and I expect KG to dominate their matchup. I also expect JO or Shaq to "Robert Horry" one of their players to swing the momentum into Boston's favor. Then there is Rondo v. Bibby.

One good thing about the Jeff Green signing is that LeHype has to check him and PP. Should be a good series regardless of whether Porkins is there or not.

He's right. The Bulls will wipe the floor with the Celtics.

    I disagree.

I definitely think Miami has the advantage now. That Celtic defense that you allude to was always at its best with Kendrick in the lineup so that he could hold down the fort so to speak while Garnett freelances on the strong side. Not any more.

Big Baby is probably their best option now and considering his knack for drawing charges close to the rim he may end up saving their ass. I wouldn't bet on it but he might.

But banking on a washed up overweight 39 year old was dumb to begin with. I think it'll be fatal.

Everybody over there in the East talks about it, but, only 1 has actually done it in 3 years, and even then it didn't come to anything. Who was it?

So easy to just say it.

Perkins is a bum. Always has been and always will be. All of these teams are wasting their time. They throw their punches now, but come playoff time when Boston and LA throw their punches... they all fall.

He's right. Bostons front-line is absolutely horrible now with KG, Krstic, and Big Baby. No one is scared of Krstic...come on now...

Rose may be correct, but I don't think the Celtics will make it to the ECF. Chicago probably will. A Chicago Miami ECF would be pretty epic.
