For once I agree with you. Duncan would have enough magnanimity to allow Kobe to think he was the better player and alpha dog, and Bryant would have been stupid enough to believe those things were true...
I say close to 10 only because Shaq had a piss poor work ethic....Duncan would have deferred to Kobe because that's his personality...But Kobe and Duncan would have ruled the league...
I don't think KG and Kobe would have won as much because KG wouldn't have deferred to Kobe in his prime the way Duncan would have...
There you have it Spur fan I said something nice about Timmy...![]()

Kobe would have turned Duncan into the real best big man of all time...Duncan would be remembered on the same level as Kobe had he played with Kobe...
For all his scoring and being #6 All-time I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Kobe is also #50 All-time on the assists list which is incredible since he's branded as a selfish guy that didn't pass...Kobe feeding Duncan would have been fun to watch....
Kickin' & screamin' the entire way.![]()
What percent of your posts contain the lol emoticon? I have it pegged around 96%.
gotdamit LKrfan...thanks for bringing that out...![]()
nope I'm straight...here's the way I see it...Duncan was clearly influenced by Reverend Robinson...Duncan's personality could have went either way...when he found out he'd be playing in SA he just resigned himself to that SA lifestyle...I think Duncan is the way he is now because he didn't have someone like Kobe pushing him...but then again it could be that he just wore down because of his body type..I don't know...but I do know that he took the game way more serious than Shaq..and I think Kobe would have appreciated that...
do you remember the early KG years with a ball dominant Marbury...it didn't work out too well...K.G wanted to be the man...He and Kobe had more of an opportunity to clash than Duncan and Kobe...Kobe respects both but I think he and Duncan would have gotten along much better personality wise...and that has nothing to do with basketball...they're probably much more like each other off the court...cept Kobe won't do the tongue ring thing..Remember KG was going into the Boston situation playing with 2 other Allstars so it's easier to make such a transition...
Now KG has proved to be more of an Athlete and more longevity but I think the Kobe / Duncan combo would have won more than Kobe / KG because of the aforementioned. and for the record I think KG wins those les if he's put in SA as well...He just happened to go to Minny....
Hey Listen I'm on record as saying that KG is the man and that I was hurt LA didn't get him when we had a chance...but I will say this...Kobe and Duncan both benefited from going to organizations with good coaches and Veteran players...Duncan had it easier than Kobe because he went into a situation with good mentors whereas Kobe went into LA, fighting for playing time behind Eddie Jones and Van Excel and in a volatile and unstable situation because of Shaq's jealousy and hatred...
Back in the day Marbury was the ...he was no Kobe but he was real coming outta NYC...I respected his game...
I don't know the specifics of the contract situations but from what a then real young Kool remembers...KG was like one of the first players to receive over a one hundred million dollar contract...He wanted all the money and he suffered with a lack of talent for years because of it...we used to talk about this on the basketball playgrounds all the time...he was in a small Market and he wanted his paper over winning I beleive this...Now had he been in LA a bigger market there would have been more money to give him and go around for better teammates...but KG wanted all the money in that small market so he has to take a lion's share of the blame for not being surrounded by Championship teammates...
But I agree with the back-2-back thing...it means everything...
@ people calling Duncan "fragile"
Anyone who saw Duncan in his prime couldn't say that with a straight face.
Kobe's somewhat overrated. He often settles for 25 points per 30 shots performances, while Bynum/Gasol/Odom get him +10 rpg differences out of Kobe's missed shots and 50 points per 30 shots combined. More than Kobe, that's the reason why many teams lose to the Lakers.
Kobe can be forced to a bad game, Shaq or Duncan were truly dominant players in their primes. While Kobe sometimes shots great, that doesn't happen often in the playoffs or the finals.
Though without Shaq Kobe has rung twice.
And of course Kobe leads Duncan 5-4.
It's all about the rings. There is nothing else.
Good point. The Basketball HOF should immediately remove everyone who never won a championship, and not allow any ringless players in, regardless of their individual accomplishments in the sport.
It would have been cool to watch Joey Crawford be forced to swallow his pride and give Duncan the benefit of the calls bestowed on all Lakers not named Luke Walton.
I don't do HOF. It's my religion.
I wonder if that movie studio had the foresight to secure those panties after the shoot? I'd like to steep a cup of hot water in the gusset for my morning tea & crumpets.
You're a ing re .
Don't worry, Duncan will have 5 too this season. And while Kobe has 5, he wasn't the main reason why the Lakers got those 5 rings.
At least I don't sit on a 14-incher like you probably do.
Well, when he does we'll talk about it. Until then, he's shinin' Kobe's shoes.
I may add this to my sig.....![]()
Dude...how old are you? 11?![]()
