...“I think that Orlando could come out of the East and San Antonio could come out of the West,” Julius Erving said Friday afternoon before the Orlando Magic dropped a 89-81 contest to the Chicago Bulls. “Everybody’s talking Boston, LA, two teams that have earned their stripes and deserve to be in the conversation. But I wouldn’t be surprised or shocked if it was Orlando-San Antonio.”

I think a Spurs-Bulls matchup would be slightly more likely. But I wouldn't mind SAS/ORL.
Yep...I wouldn't be surprised at all either. If their shooters get rolling, they can knock out the Celtics, Bulls or Heat. Strangely enough, I think Orlando and then Chicago would give us a tougher series than the C's or the Heat.
We'd get Dwight in foul trouble, then go cruising.
Yes please.
Spurs in 6 if that's the case.
Just like against the Suns, let Dwight get his and contain the shooters.
I c a Spurs Vs Bulls Finals

QUESTION: Any thoughts going into the postseason as to who you like?
ERVING: Just from watching what San Antonio is doing, they really look like the team to beat. They look like they've added pieces. They've added youth. They've always had a great organization. You know, as a four-time champion they've positioned themselves to do it again.
QUESTION: You worked for the Magic not too long ago. Do you keep tabs on them a little more than other NBA teams?
ERVING: Yeah, they're one of my favorite teams, and the organization was great to me while I was here. Actually, my dream matchup for the NBA Finals would be San Antonio and Orlando.
QUESTION: In your opinion, who is the best player in the league right now? Let's say you have the first pick and you can take anybody in the league, who do you pick?
ERVING: Wow, yeah, that's a good question. (pauses) Uh, in a team game, historically I probably would've taken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, because I know my center position would be covered for 20 years.
I'm talking about right now . . .
I know, I'm getting to that. I'm trying to give you an answer while trying to buy some time to think about it. (smiles) I don't know if there is one guy right now who I would say, 'I want to start my franchise with this guy.' I have the benefit of Kareem's history and that it was 20 years. Moses was 21 years. If you take a guy who is at the halfway point of his career, I don't know what he's going to do the second half. So, you know, Kobe Bryant, who has played 14, 15 years, I know what I'm going to get for those years. He would have an advantage, and Tim Duncan would have an advantage, for being my pick. The Dwyane Wades, the LeBron James, they're in their sixth, seventh year or so, Carmelo Anthony, great players . . . but I've only seen them for half their career. So with that uncertainty I would go with Kobe, or I would with Duncan.
ESPN would go on strike if the Spurs and Magics ever meet in the Finals.![]()
Magics done and this finals won't happen, imho
Spurs vs Bulls in the finals! its gonna happen!
two french starting the nba finals would be nice![]()
Dr. J lost both his retinas in a prediction accident.
If the Magic were playing anyone other than the Hawks, I'd predict a first round bounce out for them. The Hawks are the worst team in the playoffs. Total underachievers.
Dwight Howard would eat up Dice and Blair and Bonner because he is so much better athletically. It would be two points or a foul every time down the court.
They'd be much more likely to foul out than him. Think the refs are going to give them the calls against Howard?
These are my two favorite teams so I'd be loving it. But obviously I'd be rooting for the Spurs all the way.
Orlando played pretty good today without Howard as the anchor on both ends of the ball. If they can sustain that effort in the playoffs, now that Boston lost its mojo, the Heat are full of urkels, and the Bulls can be pushed around...they might just have a chance to reach the Finals and lose horribly to the West!
Maybe Julius can see his illegitimate children too?
I can see a Lakers-Bulls finals much more clearly
I can tell you all what two teams will meet in the Finals with absolute 100% certainty.
The Eastern Conference Champion and the Western Conference Champion

I was able to obtain a text from David Stern to Erving...
Stern: "An Orlando - San Antonio Finals? Ha! You're killin' me, Julius!"
