I saw 3 main fights
Really worth seeing esp. Nate vs Paul and what Melendes had to say after his fight
No one caught this card? Some very good fights, and the main event was wild as![]()
I saw 3 main fights
Really worth seeing esp. Nate vs Paul and what Melendes had to say after his fight
Saw the Daley fight and it was good
Daley runs his mouth too much and always loses big fights..
I posted stuff in the off topic area last night since there wasn't a thread for this card (Would be nice if SF put 5 fights on their main card for once)
Probably take people time to get use to this
what a sub by Aoki just now!!!
Gegard Mousasi vs. Keith Jardine up next, interesting to see how the reinvented Jardine looks
Great battle, Jardine had more takedowns but didn't do anything with them, Mousasi showed his excellent striking. The final 2 founds were dominated by Mousasi but Jardine almost pulled off a "Silva" with 10 sec left but couldn't get the sub attempt in tight enough.
Jardine was definitely tired from the short notice taking this fight
Going to a decision....Judges score it 29-27, 28-28, 28-28 majority draw. Mousasi probably should have won but he got a 1 pt taken away for an illegal up kick on the ground.
Strikeforce lightweight le bout up next, Gilbert Melendez vs Tatsuya Kawajiri.
Gilbert annihilated Kawa from the get go, ref stoppage in the 1st. When asked who he wants to face next , his answer "time to unify the belt, I'm the best LW in the world"
Diaz vs Daley up now
Probably one of the best rounds of the year. The finish came right before the bell: 4:57 of R1 Diaz wins by ref stoppage. Not sure if it was a good stoppage because it looked like Daley was defending with his legs, keeping Diaz away, but you could tell the left hand (which you barely saw, just Daley going to the ground) did rock Daley when he fell.
Diaz proved again he has a great chin.
Overall a good card
Yeah when I saw Diaz fall, I was like "fights over" (because of how he fell). But you could tell the ref gave him time to recover.
Would have been nice for the fight to go to a 2nd round.
This is true. UFC is fairly weak at the lower weights. still needs Ishida, Josh Thomson, JZ, Aoki, Mach, Kawajiri... and i would say vitor but hes dropped 4 out of 5
I think LW itself is pretty stacked at the moment, at least 4 guys in the contender mix. Thompson/Aoki/Melendez would just make it that much more explosive and hard to figure out who gets a shot.
About Alvarez...that'd be a sick fight with Melendez but I think the level of compe ion is too much of a disadvantage for him.
yup got to add alvarez in there too. bellator must be paying him mad money or else dana hasnt picked up the phone.
Damn, I wish they'd just hurry up and bring Nick Diaz back to the UFC. Get it over with. It's where he belongs.
yup, i know there are alot of Diaz haters here but the dude can flat out fight
Listen to a Diaz interview.. The guy is completely insane.. But yes he can fight and should be in the UFC..
I don't like the Diaz brothers, but I respect that they back up their talk. Strangely, Nick actually seems like a cool guy when talking about Decatholons and his training partners. There's a lot of good fights for him in the UFC and he could be a star if he toned it done a bit and stopped acting like people were persecuting him all the time.
Fitch/Kos/GSP/Diego/Kampmann...five fights right off the bat that could be FOTN with Diaz.
I can't stand that Diaz, I wish he would fight someone worth the already.
Diaz was pretty y post fight after nearly getting KTFO in the first by Daley. He won the fight - obviously - but he's full of if he tries to act like if Daley had't nearly done the same to him.
Don't get me wrong, I hate him, but he could've easily went to the ground and sub'd Daley. He did say IF he won the fight, then he'd do it by KO, and that's pretty much what happened.
