Contrary to thinking that our game against LA will be a no bearing game, I think it is huge in determining how far we advance in the Playoffs. I see OkC as the most capable team of beating LA in a seven game series, And I see Dallas as a more favorable 2nd round opponent. Beating LA on Tuesday will go along way in making this a reality.

If OKC can elimnate LA , I like our chances against OKC, its all about match-ups

I say pedal-to-the-metal against them Tuesday. Play the big 3 their normal regular season minutes, let the bench prove themselves, get Splitter involved early against their bigs and see if he can hold his own on the defensive end.

I do think Splitter should get a major run at these guys. I want to see if he can contribute well. If the Spurs take it as a must win to stay ahead of Chicago, then I am anxious to see if the Spurs bench will step it up against the defending champs. That is the storyline for me. If the Spurs bench can take advantage of the Lakers while Kobe and Bynum are sitting, then the Spurs will be a serious threat regardless of the Lakers size. After all, they are only intimidating when Bynum and Gasol are on the floor together. Odom is a good player, but he can be pushed around under the basket pretty easily (see McDyess/Martin).

It sounds like a good idea of course, but knowing Pop, I'm sure he'll opt for the prudent route and rest his older players - especially TD and Dice.

    Your analysis is logically flawed.

If we accept your assumptions that:

    1. Dallas would be a better second opponent for the Spurs and

    2. OKC is the most capable team of beating the Lakers in a seven game series

    Then..

The preferred outcome for the Spurs on Tuesday would be a Laker victory.

This makes no sense... You would want Dallas to lose if you want them in the 2nd round, not LA to lose.

We will likely get torched by the Lakers, because they are the only ones with still something to play for. Im sure most of the starters will be rested for this game as it really means nothing.

"this game as it really means nothing"

absolute BS. A W means the Spurs locking in Finals HCA.

Not ture. If Spurs lose to Phoenix and Chicago win out then they finish with identical records.

Beating LA can very well drop them to the 4th seed and a 2nd round matchup with the Spurs. Not sure how that helps the Spurs.

    "they finish with identical records."

If the other info here is accurate, Spurs and Bulls toss a coin for HCA. that.

Winning @LA will confirm LA's weakness and expose asshole KoMe's swagger as total lie.

Pop will rest the starters against LA and PHX. The only team we haven't clinched HCA against is Chicago, and that's only if we meet in the Finals. Better to get the rest and be fresh for the playoffs.

If the Rockets beat the Mavs tonight, chances are that OKC will be #2 or #3.
And if the Spurs beat the Lakers tuesday, the Lakers could lose on purpose their last game to avoid OKC. Lakers would be the 4th seed and meet the Spurs in the 2nd round.
I don't know if it's a good idea to beat the Lakers tuesday if the rockets beat the Mavs tonight.
On the other hand, in that case, the Mavs could lose on purpose their last game to be the 4th seed and let the Lakers and OKC play each other.

We can beat the Lakers. We just have to make our open threes. When we make our open threes, we don't lose

Their bigs seemed gased against okc, they have been rotating 3 players in the pf/c positions the whole year, that may be affecting them. Splitter and Blair may have big games, i would say Bonner but the PO are too close.
I think we have to beat them so they have to go all out the last two games.

There are too many scenarios for the spurs to be concerned about. They will just prepare to finish up the season and get ready for the playoffs and play whoever they have to. So don't look for a full out effort in the last two games.

    i HATE the Lakers.

But to quote the resident pedophile downstairs, I hope LA spills the Spurs proverbial plums all over SoCal tomorrow night when Pop trots out Quinn/Green/JA. 1 & 5!

I highly doubt Spurs will play their both last game with the A team. At least one will be played with scrubs to have the team fresh for the playoffs.

Depending on today's result, there is a chance Spurs are in a situation tomorrow where a win against LA present the risk to have them slipping to the 4th seed. Do Spurs really want to play Lakers in the second round?

tank LA game. or at least don't play timmy, mcdyess and manu. maybe tony too. Let the youngers go 100% against the struggling lakers and see what happens
