So..someone clear this up for me. I've been confused the whole thread.

What has to happen for the 6, 7 and 8 to be Memphis (6), Portland (7) and New Orleans (8)? And if this happens, how would it benefit the Spurs?
    -NO has to lose out
    -Mem has to win out

Spurs get to play a depleted Hornets squad.

For that to happen, New Orleans has to lose to Dallas on Wednesday night. Memphis has to win 1 of their last 2 games to finish 7th basically. Or if they win their last 2 games they'll end up 6th. If Portland wins their last games, they will finish 6th....

For that to happen, New Orleans has to lose to Dallas on Wednesday night. And Memphis has to beat Portland tomorrow night. And on Wednesday night if both Memphis and Portland either both win or both lose their games, Memphis will finish 6th because of tie-breaker, Portland will finish 7th, and New Orleans will finish 8th....
That's a lot to worry about just to play New Orleans in the first round. Memphis is at Portland tomorrow, right? At first, I was thinking i'm not sure if memphis wins that. Then I remembered Zebo/Gasol.

So if all that happens...considering the Spurs beat New Orleans (Probably easy to bet on), what would happen in the long run? It's late, i'm too tired to figure all of this out. With LA, OKC and Dallas up in the air, especially.

Basically for us to get New Orleans in the 1st round New Orleans HAS to lose on Wednesday night and Memphis has to win 1 of their last 2 games, that's it....

The best possible seeding scenario for us would be: SA, LA, OKC, DAL, DEN, POR, MEM, NOH. Gives us the easiest matchup in the first round and the winner of Dal and Den in the 2nd. While LA and OKC have to battle Portland and Memphis respectively and then face each other in the semis. The worst scenario would be memphis in 8th seed and LA falling to 4th. The last few days should be interesting no matter how it plays out.

No problem. The only reason it sounded more complicated the 1st time around is because of the mess with Portland/Memphis...

    most likely scenario:

    1. Spurs
    2. Mavs
    3. Lakers
    4. OKC
    5. Denver
    6. Mem
    7. Por
    8. NO

-i think LA wins tomorrow against SA and loses @ Sac.
    -Memphis wins out
    -Dallas beats NO

Not bad if you're a Spurs fan but I really would prefer the Spurs to not have to go through OKC/LA to get to the Finals....

Don't think it's possible after tonight. Spurs are either going to get (NO/OKC) or (MEM or POR/DAL ).

Nevermind. NO/OKC is still possible if NO beats Dallas, Memphis wins out, and Portland splits their last two games.

Pretty much this sums it up:

NO loss on Wednesday, Memphis wins out= #6 Memphis, #7 Portland, #8 New Orleans

NO loss on Wednesday, Memphis beats Portland tomorrow, then loses to the Clippers, while Portland loses to Memphis and wins @Golden State= #6 Memphis, #7 Portland, #8 New Orleans

NO loss on Wednesday, Portland beats Memphis tomorrow, and Memphis beats Clippers on Wednesday night= #6 Portland, #7 Memphis, #8 New Orleans

If thunder win out and Dal loses to NOH they would both end the season at 56-26 and I believe the Thunder own the tiebreaker. If LA wins out they would end at 57-25. So SA, LA, OKC, DAL is still possible. However Dallas losing to NOH might mean they move up to the 7 seed.

Memphis would be a tough 1st round, but there is no way we lose that series. I would rather DAL fall to 4th then NOH fall to 8.

Wow; so ideally if NO wins against Dallas and Memphis wins out we could see the Hornets in the first round, the Mavericks in the second (if they beat Denver), and the Lakers and Thunder would probably meet after going through Memphis and Portland. That would be pretty great.

Provided Memphis wins out, which is not so clear since they have to play the Blazers in Portland tomorrow, and then the Clippers Wednesday.
NOH holds the tiebreaker with MEM.

Is there a way the Lakers can still finish #4? It looks like the Spurs will have to choose between ensuring the Lakers don't drop to #4... or keep the homecourt against Chicago.

What a dilemma ... I vote to play the starters very limited minutes against L.A. tonight ... if they still win, so be it. The risk of meeting Chicago in the Finals is not very high, so its better to maybe not have HCA in the Finals than meeting the Lakers already in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Hopefully NO stays at #8.
