I don't remember saying Dems or the GOP had a clue either But the fact remains that we're in the exact same position we were in at the last election and you have a swing in independents.
If nothing has changed what are they basing the swing on? They're basing it on a general discontent stemming from larger problems in society that neither party is actually addressing.
If independents actually waded through the rhetoric they would in no way pick either a dem or republican so you can save that bull for other independents who will actually buy it.
So they'd pick a socialist?
Of course you know what I am talking about, so responding to you trying to explain myself would just be a waste of energy.
Why the do people respond to posts on this board like they are running for office?
Obama has better poll numbers than Regan at this point in his first term. There are a lot of parallels. An appreciation of the hill challengers have to climb to beat an in bent are necessary to fully appreciate how much of an advantage Obama has.
Gonna probably take a combination of an excellent GOP candidate (LOL oh I'm sorry LOL) and the economy getting worse. I admit gas prices could have a huge impact but 4 dollar gas isn't new and while it sucks I think you're going to need prices closer to $5 a gallon to have a dent.
To be fair, however, I only play an election pundit on the internet and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night so take it for what its worth.
Fitting, since they're both about equal pieces of .
Ohh... so people can't be smart enough to pick and choose who is the best option of the candidates that have a chance to win... to be true independents they have to throw their vote away like an ideologue.
How did those votes for Nader work out for you?
(half joking, half not)
I never said anything of the sort. What I said was very clearly, the choices they are leaving themselves are . I find it laughable that you somehow want to frame independents who less than 4 months into a new Congress are already jumping ship as somehow the holders of the best judgement in the political universe.
The fact of the matter is that they make ty choices and they have no rationale for their choices other than its something other than what is currently in power.
Its exactly as I described up above: A blind man groping in the dark hoping that the next thing he grabs is the choice that saves him. Not likely.
Its also a false choice when you frame it as "the best candidate who has a chance to win". Yeah, the two choices usually suck but independents are every it as complicit as ideologues in the system that produces two ty candidates each time. Apparently somehow independents are the smarter decision makers than democrats and republicans but are at their mercy? Thats laughable.
The establishment has the independents by the nuts just like they have everyone else.
Remember that one time independents chose Ross Perot over Clinton and Bush?
Yeah, neither do I.
If the economy behaves the same way over the next 18 months that it did the 18 months before Reagan's second election then Obama's got nothing to worry about. If you look at the 1 term guys, there's usually a link between inflation & unemployment.
To be fair, however, I only play an election pundit on the internet and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night so take it for what its worth.
Me too.
I remember very well. It gave Clinton credit for the tech bubble prosperity instead of Bush. Bygones.
You act as if politicians get elected and then act on their own with no input from their cons uencies or the next 2/4/6 years...
They sure as don't listen to independents over their term.
Hahahaha
None of this matters. Both parties are running from America's problems.
Manny you are still delusional.
I agree with Manny, none of the stronger candidates I see in the GOP is gonna cut it...I think Romney could give Obama a run but Obama would likely pull it out.....Palin, Trump, Newt, even the Governors....they are a joke....
The total differential sure.
I got the wrong page. It was on page 5 of the pdf where they break it down by self-identified "moderateness".
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/p...US_0412513.pdf
Three to one, moderates identified the GOP as "extremist".
Oddly, or not, that's about what we see on this board..
Says the guy furthest to the left.
A snapshot of the public view when the media makes the republicans out as the bad guys on the budget.
Now that there is a 38-1/2 billion cut, what would a new poll look like?
I'm more of a civil/social liberties voter, and Obama's huge backpedal on that might be one reason for more independents.
You probably need to have yer ass kicked for that post.
