Have the bad feeling that Memphis tanks against the Clippers like they did last night in Portland ... Dallas will beat NO ... and everything is set for an easy walkthrough for the Lakers.

Screw it! I want Memphis in the first round because I want to see NO take down Dallas and drop them to the 4th seed. The worm will squirm in LA with OKC as the 3rd seed.

If Memphis wins, it's a win/win for the Spurs.
A Dallas win would put New Orleans at #8, while a New Orleans win would knock Dallas down to #4, assuming OKC wins vs. Milwaukee.
If Memphis does tank, we should root for New Orleans.

    A conundrum:

Do we want to avoid Memphis in 1st round, and get Ok City in 2nd round?

Or do we want to play Memphis in 1st round and have Dallas in 2nd round?

The New Orleans- Dallas game will determine which road the Spurs take.

New Orleans wins, we get Memphis in 1st rd. Dallas in 2nd'

Dallas win, we get NO in 1st rd and Ok City in 2nd

All this assuming that Memphis does beat Clippers too, which they will.

Grizzlies Coach admitted he's not playing his starters against the Clippers. He wants to face S.A. so we'll be seeing them in the first round.

You know it's going to be the Blake Griffin show tonight for the final home game of the Clips season, and the Grizz will just sit back and watch.

I'd be happy with us playing the Grizz as long as LA drops to 3 tonight (Mavs win/Lakers loss) because they would have to play Portland and then Dallas without home court. If they get NOH and Dallas with home court it's going to suck hard. We'll be grinding through the gauntlet while they are breezing on through.

It doesn't matter who we face in the opening round. The Grizzlies are 8th for a reason. We aren't the Mavericks.

    +1.

The more I think about it, i want the Grizzlies in the first round.

It's pretty clear that they're tanking for the 8th seed and want the Spurs. I hope Pop and the team uses this for motivation and destroys them in the first round.

I'm glad that they're feeling so confident about their team and think they can run with us after beating us without Tony and Tim in each of their wins.

But i'm not ready to crown them the 07 Warriors just yet with their 0-12 All Time Playoff Record. We aren't the Mavs.

These arrogant little pricks need to be reminded that there's a reason why the Spurs are the 1st seed and they're thrilled to be first round fodder.

Payback for the Gasol trade is going to be a .

For what it's worth, Tim Legler said last night that Portland will be a very tough out in the first round, but he basically equated Memphis and New Orleans, saying neither of those teams is a threat.

    I think that's about right.

Seriously now. We are talking about the Grizzlies without Rudy Gay, and the Hornets without David West. I'd prefer NO over Memphis so we have less size to deal with, but really...if either of these teams manages to surprise us in the first round, then there was no way in this team would've gone all the way anyways.

Play to win, and let the cards fall where they may.

Memphis is good where Spurs are soft, inside.
And they are the most physical team in the West, at the moment.

    Tough series.

Assuming Splitter will be DNP, of course, which is going to happen.

    This.

Memphis is going to tank, because they already showed that in the Portland game. Right now I'm just looking for wins for Dallas and Sacramento.

The only plus to this is that I'm really disliking the Grizzlies now, so when the Spurs see them in the playoffs I'll be much more invested in that series. I hope the Spurs sweep that ass in magnificent blowout fashion.

Lakers need to win tonight to avoid Portland.
It might be a long series for them, even with Bynum going full speed.

Spurs will be fully rested and ready to defend HCA against whoever they play in the first round. They have the depth and experience on how to win. If the Spurs play hard and motivated knowing Memphis tanked just to play them. The Spurs could close it out in 4 or 5 games.

They need to play as a team though. Memphis is going to try and play physical but we have to play the same way and show them why they should be careful what they wish for..

Please everybody stop losing it. The only problem we have here is Splitter getting more playing time and Pop stone the nonsense of the rookie vs loyalty stuff.

Memphis?! LOL! They don't stand a chance against the 4x champion Spurs in a seven game series. I can only see them winning one game due to Spurs lameness and bad calls. That would probably be Game 1. aside from that can you say easy

As has been mentioned, I don't think anybody fears the Memphis Grizzlies. They're not going to beat the Spurs in the 1st round. However, there are fans, including myself, that would prefer this:

    New Orleans/OKC

    To this:

    Memphis/OKC

Simply because Memphis is a more physical team than New Orleans. The Lakers would smash New Orleans even without Bynum (so they could potentially rest him for the entire series), and most likely wouldn't have too much trouble with Dallas in the second round either, especially if Bynum returns. That means a well-rested, healthy, confident Lakers team meeting the Spurs in the WCF after the Spurs just played multiple games against two very physical teams.

Memphis is not a concern. But what I wrote above is.

IMO the Mavs will try and tank, but NOH will out-tank them. Memphis will pull off a successful tank job, and the Spurs will end up with the worst case scenario: Grizz in the 1st round, and OKC in the second.
