no need for this as there are now three treads referencing this same injury...
SAN ANTONIO (April 14, 2011) - Spurs guard Manu Ginobili had an MRI earlier today in San Antonio. The MRI showed that he has a right elbow sprain. The injury occurred in the first quarter of last night’s Spurs-Suns game. Ginobili has already begun his rehabilitation process and will be listed as doubtful for Game 1 of the Spurs-Grizzlies series, which is scheduled for noon on Sunday at the AT&T Center.

I guess it's not horrible news ... although depending on the grade of the sprain, he could be hurting for a while.
By skipping Game 1, Manu would get a full week to rest. That may be the smart thing to do. Manu playing in Game 2 could then be determined by the outcome of the first game.
If that's all...........YYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!Whew, I can change my depends now!
I agree and unless we get a huge win, Manu will play in Game 2.
we dont really need him in the first round anyways. but this is great news nonetheless.
Good Point. His team mates should be pumped due to the fact that Manu will eventually return very soon, as opposed to the Doom & Gloom mentality that would bring the moral down. MEMPHIS IS GOING DOWN IN GAME ONE!!!!!
Pop should sit him for game one whether he can play or not.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was out there on Sunday. They may win Game 1 without Ginobili, but they can't afford to take the chance. This is an older team and they can't afford to play more games than they have to.
The Grizzlies were brazen enough to tank the last two games to face the Spurs. The last thing the Spurs need is a Game 1 loss which instills even more confidence in them.
Leaginobili
.Estara @manuginobili en el arranque? hmmmmmmmmm dijo la muda!!
Now it all depends on how comfortable Manu will feel in a week from now and how can he play himself into a game shape.
I mean really with Manu it's hard to tell.
Hopefully putting him in a war situation /playoffs/ can release playoff manu
btw. Now we are going to follow 2 threads about the same issue
Let's be serious for a moment...He's playing and we all know it.
He'll play imo. This wouldn't be the first time this season that a Spurs player had a faster than expected recovery either and its the playoffs. I fully expect the Grizz to be all over that elbow though![]()
he's playing
This thread should be merged. I thought it was something new.
History of elbow sprains I can find:
-Derek Fisher had an elbow sprain this year, didn't miss a game.
-Kirk Hinrich had an elbow sprain this year, missed a week.
-Andrew Bynum missed one week with an elbow sprain in 2009.
-James Posey missed about ten days with an elbow sprain in 2009.
-Desmond Mason missed two weeks with an elbow sprain in 2008.
-Tracy McGrady missed one week with an elbow sprain in 2007.
-Charlie Villanueva missed three weeks in 2006 with an elbow sprain (although some reports say it was a torn ligament).
I guess the real question is how will he play when he gets back. I don't have stats to back it up but it seems Manu needs multiple games to get back to being 100% Seems to collect rust very quickly. Hopefully, he can get in some time at the end of this first round.
If T-Mac only missed a week with it, then Manu should be ready to go by later tonight.
So yeah, skipping Game 1 would give him about a week. Judging by these other players, that appears to possibly be enough time.
I bet Manu will want to play regardless of how his elbow feels. It will be up to Pop to gauge whether he's actually hampered by it, and play him accordingly.
What was the translation of Brazil's post?
Put a brace with a metal covering underneath the pad so any grizz that want to test it can eat a mouthful of pain.
Until he's not on the court Sun I dont buy he isnt playing. They may decide to rest him one game, but if he is feeling better tomorrow and Sat I think he plays
