“I just want to say this for Tim Duncan: We did not tank the season so we can get the San Antonio Spurs,” Hollins said. “In fact, my thought process had nothing to do with the San Antonio Spurs. It had to do with us being healthy coming into this series, whatever series it wasLuck_The_Fakers_going to be. I was only concerned about our health.

“I think Tim needed some motivation or something but if I had a choice of teams this definitely wouldn’t have been it. I would have taken Houston or something like that, that’s not in the playoffs.

Obviously the Grizzlies tanked to play the Spurs. But don't play Tim for stupid. Tanking to play Houston? Yeah like that makes any sense. His options were win the last two games and play Dallas; win one of two and play the Lakers; or lose both and play the Spurs. Tim doesn't need extra motivation; it's the playoffs.

We're going to whip that Grizzly ass so they can rethink that strategy in the offseason.

Grizz are fuked no matter who they face. They might as well be healthy. Collins has a point.

Hollins thinks the Grizz have a chance solely because of how they played against the Spurs this year. Time and time again, tanking or trying to win certain games before playoff seedings are determined is done by default of how a team has fared against other teams in the regular season. That's ing re ed. The playoffs is a whole different venue. The Grizz blatantly disrespected the Spurs, and for that, I think that'll be enough for the Spurs to eliminate them in 5 maybe even 4 games.

Why is he addressing Tim specifically?
Because of Tim's comment during practice that the Grizzlies "think they match up well with us, they chose to play us, so they got us."

they or anyone else in the NBA do not want to face a motivated TD - 25 and 15 and 4 is not out of the realm of plausibility for a rested, determined TD and if so, this will be a short series.

    Bring it on stupid Hollins.

I suspect the owner told the coach to do this. I don't Hollins has the power to pull his players with two games left.

Whatever, I don't think Memphis can take more than one/two games at the most.

Any coach would be foolish to go against L.A. frontline when they can face a cupcake frontline like the Spurs tbh.

With two games left, the three teams were tied for 6-8. Portland chose the gutsy route of going balls out and grabbing for 6th, knowing their was very little chance of LA falling that far. The other two chose to try to drop to 8th. The Grizzlies "won", but everyone knows what they were trying to do. Lying about it now isn;t going to make SA any less pissed. In additon, they threw two games and had 4 days off. How much momentum could they have?

I didn't know it was only Tim who thought they tanked. The media as a whole knew it.

Hollins is just in damage control mode, doesn't want to give the Spurs any more fire.

Thanks for begrudgingly admitting you'd rather have played a lottery side than us, Hollins.

    This.

I just hate how he won't admit it. You're a Head Coach, we get it. Your job is to win, and you'd rather go up against the Spurs then the Lakers. Its a coaching decision. But put your name on it son!

Can't blame him, I'd rather play the Spurs too. They lost 8 of last 12 games, they are a s of their former selves from mid season. Spurs are most vunerable 1 seed in recent history.

How are they going to regret it???

Do you think they had any chance against Lakers???

At least this way, if they lose, only 1/3 of people will have watched it, because of ratings, yes?
