But maybe when they found out Manu wasn't going to fight with them they kinda let down a little bit. All the players pointed to that Manu would play, and the only player I recall calling out Memphis was Duncan....
Lets not also forget that the Spurs were supposed to be pissed that Memphis tanked to get them.
Everyone seems to have forgotten that. Hollins is rolling over in his still being alive grave.
But maybe when they found out Manu wasn't going to fight with them they kinda let down a little bit. All the players pointed to that Manu would play, and the only player I recall calling out Memphis was Duncan....
They all knew it. Memphis called their shot and slapped the Spurs. Just saying, you guys are looking for all of these silver linings, I am just here to point out the other side of the coin.
Ya Memphis called their ....Shot 55% from the field, and beat a team without their All-Star player. I'm sure Memphis thinks they got this in the bag.. just like most of yall on here.
Spurs wont win a championship this year, but by NO means are we losing to an 8th seed.
Did Rudy Gay play?
No he didn't and thank GOD. But Rudy Gay has been done for months. I see where your going with this, but that aint happening. Gay is done for the season. Memphis was tanking when Manu still healthy, they wanted a healthy Spurs team. Just wait, they will get their wish.
Who said SA will lose the series by the way?
Never said you did...but I've seen a few posts.
Am I the only one who is really nervous about this series?
Until Manu plays and is effective....You have the right to be nervous.
Panic would require something surprising to happen.![]()
If you need Ginobili to win a home game against Memphis, then the Spurs aren't as deep as you think they are. If your not the least bit nervous, then you don't have a pulse.
Its nice to see you using a Jon Barry quote after he's been slamming the Spurs all-season long.
Give this guy his clown shoes already.
It is the way they played that concerns me, they can win the series but they obviously need to play better for the whole 48 minutes.
It looks like the Spurs are going to live and die with Bonner.![]()
I'm not panicking but I do hope Pop and players are panicking a little because if we continue like that with or without Manu it will be a first round exit.
"Best game of their franchise history v. Spurs"
loooooomao, how many times have we heard this against how many different teams this season. There is a reason everyone's front courts are having career days...
By the way, didn't the '03, '05 and '07 teams lose their first playoff game?
Did the '03, '05 and '07 teams play defense like the '11 team?
That question belongs in the "time to panic" thread.![]()
I'm not sure the Spurs can physically exploit Memphis' weaknesses. If the Grizzlies' long balls are dropping all series Spurs are done.
Remember when Denver beat the Spurs in game 1 and everyone was counting out the old ass tired beaten up Spurs. Memphis will not get another 1 after that fluke win.
I think Denver did it twice, and the Spurs won the next four both times. Not positive though.
This was the game Memphis was going to win. I predicted Spurs in 5-6.
Panic? No.
But definitely concerned.
You can say MEM hit a lot of fluke shots but how many times have you said that this year about this team? A lot. There comes a point when you realize that it stops being fluke shots and its actually just ty defense. When you give NBA players open shots, they're going to make it most of the time.
The Grizzlies imposed their will tonight and played their style of game. Pop didn't really make any adjustments aside from starting Blair in the 2nd and doubling Randolph/gasol when it was already too late. That's not a good sign that a 8th seed is dictating pace/style.
Spurs should be very worried and hope Manu comes back Game 2 and is a difference maker.
On a side note, it's really shocking that Memphis is able to be a really good team without a stretch 4. Shocking![]()
