Let's triple team them and leave Mayo/Battier/Conley wide open for the 3 point shot... sounds like a plan...

Gasol will not have another game like that, no need for a double on him.

Not to mention that even if you double Gasol, he's 7 ft... he can pass above pretty much anybody in the team not named TD/Dice/Splitter...

Well, game 1 provided us a few examples of what would happen if we double-team. The other big and the SF cut to the basket and receive the pass. With limited shot blocking from the Spurs, that basically turns into an easy two points for the Grizz.

Matt Bonner getting 25 minutes translates into easy buckets for the Grizz too. It was nice to see him perform in the clutch, but he's a huge defensive liability throughout the game.

Matt Bonner wasn't more of a defensive liability than Dyess, Blair or even Tim.

    This.

It's not a hard problem to solve. Give Splitter 20-25 minutes play instead of expecting candy ass Bonner and short ass Blair to check them.

Splitter is overrated. There's no way he can effectively gurad Gasol/Randolph.

I wish Dice can take a bigger role defensively. He used to be one of the top interior defenders in the league.

Why not. The Spurs are a good matchup for him. He is getting easy point blank shots at the basket and just shooting over people.

Splitter would not be able to get 25 minutes. He will foul out long before that if he tried to play on his man.

What other pointing out is that Splitter is a better option defensively against other bigs, not saying he can stop it or he can be effective as what other is thinking but still, in my opinion, he is still better defensively compared to Bonner.

I agree. No one can match his size. The team is just getting smaller. We used to have D-Robinson, Rasho, Nazar, Oberto, Elson, and K-Thomas.

Last time they went head to head, Splitter outscored and outrebounded Gasol (Spurs lost, but Gasol didn't go nuts on us). Splitter held his own against a bigger, more talented Lakers front line on more than one occasion.

And in case you hadn't noticed, we lost yesterday with Blair, Bonner, and Dice taking turns. But go ahead and keep your head in a hole in the ground.

    Dip Spurs fan.

Splitter may be slightly better defensively compared to Bonner, but how much can he contibute offensively? Significantly less than Bonner.

How can we ever expect Tiago make up for Bonner's two field goals per game?

Bonner in 22 minutes per game: 7.3 PPG
Tiago in 11 minutes per game: 4.6 PPG

    Adjusted to 48 minutes:

    Bonner: 15.92 PPG
    Tiago: 20.07 PPG
