It has been do ented and seems to be the consensus among NBA coaches and commentators alike that Pop has both the best in game and game to game adjustment strategies in the league.

Based on the final few weeks of the season and the first playoff game, has he lost his powers, or will the Spurs come out guns blazing, with a strategy for Bonner and the 6-4 Blair to somehow defend the Grizzlies' giants who were dropping the ball into the basket from 2-3 feet with regularity and ease?

    Thoughts?

    Game-to-game I agree 100%. In-game adjustments - I'm not sold on that.

You're probably right on this. But the game to game adjustments are most important at the moment. If he can neutralize the Grizzlies front line, we have them. I'm not sure Splitter is the answer, but it might be worth a shot.

I don't think Pop can make the adjustment to have Blair grow 5 inches and McDyess become five years younger

    It has?

2008 taking Bowen off Kobme propelled the Lamers right back into the game.
Mic e Finley at the PF spot, Manu injured and at 50% yet left in far to long before Barrdog came in and excelled.

2009 More Finley crap and now add Bonbon.
2010 Ms. Finley for the reg season and Mr and Mrs Greg Pop-a-Bonbon for the sweep. Poor Tim left out to dry, exhausted reg season and post.
2011 Now we get the total benching of Splitter and Bonbon 1st off the bench to energize the opponent and total out 24 minutes.

Pop is definitely one of the greats at game by game adjustments but has never been known as a great in-game adjustment coach. Mainly because he doesn't really make in game adjustments very often, he usually rides his game plan out till the end and elects to re-evaluate things after the game.

Drawing plays out of timeouts? Definitely.

Managing minutes on the fly? no.

Not sure honestly Pop for all his positives (and he has many) could ever deserve these pundits.

Pop has gone on record, which doesn't mean much, that apart from our shots not falling we did a pretty good job. I'd like to hope that Gasol won't shoot 90% again and Dice won't have another horrible game and that will right the ship. However, they will make adjustments as well. It's hard to imagine our other almost 7 footer not playing against this team. I expect a much more focused game by us and a win nonetheless.

    Pop is overrated

Younger big 3 and Bruce Bowen made him look good.

The real weakness, even though it's counter-intuitive, comes in drafting and signing players. The Spurs do not have an adjustable rotation that would make them better than they were this year.
