Why does Popovich get so much credit for turning the Spurs into a 3 point chucking team that plays no defense? It's no different than what D'antoni does, and he's just as much of an idiot for doing it.
Popovich is the most overrated coach of all time. He's been riding Duncan's nuts for too long!
All that moon face does well is manage minutes, draw up plays, and on his team consistantly.

He had no other choice. Duncan is past his prime and they don't have any reliable inside players. Just making the best of the situation. Their defense wasn't dominate, but still pretty solid. Much better than any previous Suns team.
He decided to have a stretch 4 all on his own. He signed Bonner for more money and 4 more years when NO ONE ELSE wanted his ass.
Then he creams his pants for Splitter for so many years and then when he gets here, he doesn't play his 7' ass and instead plays 2 6'6" guys and complains there is no defense.
Sorry, Pop made his choice a long time ago.
They are no different than the Suns, their defense is created by their offense and teams trying to get in chucking contests with them. In a halfcourt grind it out game, the 2011 Spurs suck equally as much as the 2007 Suns, if not more.
And as 4>0rings mentioned, Pop had other choices. He doesn't have to overuse Bonner, he doesn't have to glue the one legit big on SA not named Duncan to the bench, he doesn't have to fill the roster with offense-first players like Neal and Jefferson.
Any team that doesn't win the ring is ed just the same.
