Good call except it isn't just one guy killing us. I've never been more scared of a lesser opponent than I was against those kings and these grizzlies.

Good call? The spurs won the first two games by large margins against SAC and won the last two the same way...

Other than the fact that this series and that one are almost totally different --absolutely.

In 2006, the Spurs obliterated the Kings in Game 1 and then won Game 2 in OT on the Barry Bounce. They should have won Game 3; Artest stripped Manu on the last Spurs possession and Martin beat the buzzer with a layup. By then, the Bonzi Wells show was in full effect and the series became a struggle.

Not sure really how Sunday and Wednesday are that similar to 5 years ago.

+1. Not really much to compare here. The Spurs beat the out of the Kings in Game 1, and took game 2 by a hair. The only reason the Kings even made it a series is because of that Martin layup at the Buzzer in Game 3....

They are the same in the way that their respective major stars were big, physical players who muscled and willed their way to points in the post. Both were players we had no answer for.

Also, Bonzi Wells and Zach Randolph are the only two Eddie Winslow clones in NBA League history. That is the biggest similarity between 06 and 11.

I'm hoping it's more like Denver in 07. After blowing game one, we got game 2, but it was a war the whole way. Afterward, game three on there home court was equally intense and wasn't decided until the closing minutes. It was our role players that separated us from Denver at that time. Let's hope our role players step it up big time these next 2 games.

If you want an historical comparison, the series to date reminds me a lot of the 2000 first round series against Phoenix and the 2003 serried against the Suns. In each, the Spurs lost a close Game 1 at home and then won relatively close Game 2's.

Edit o agree with the 2007 series against Denver.

I can see the comparison to later on in the Kings series, in fact, I thought of it myself during this game. That was a slugfest, and there was no reason to believe any remaining game in the series would be an easy win.

Not the second game. We needed a lucky bounce by Brent Barry to tie the game and send it to overtime. Then we lost both in Sacto.

That's what I noticed too, Spurs having trouble with their size but still, they found a way to win in Game 2 but Grizzlies almost ties it with just almost 20 seconds in the game after having a 7 point lead I guess in last minute of the game..

    BTW, who's that Eddie Winslow?

I'm not yet a Spurs fan that time. I'm still 8 years old that time I think. But thanks for the info.

Yeah, every possession is really important, just like what happened in Game 2, they gained momentum around 3rd Quarter and created an 8 point lead I think but after the timeout of the Grizzlies, it was down by 1 point lead or 2 I think in just only less than a minute.

It's not like any of those. Today's Timmy isn't the same, isn't as dominant and Manu is injured. Tony is playing a a lower level than he has in the past.

Although we might look like that team, we aren't. Gary Neal is good, but he's not Brent Barry and we have no Bowen anywhere. You rarely hear of "just get a stop" these days. It's "get back and score the ball".
