So what moves should the Spurs make? Look to the future and transition? Take one more shot with this group? Serious thread btw...not trolling.

Good possibility...but there is no reason we can't speculate.

There will be lots of questions with the new CBA and Duncan. One has to wonder if he might pull an RJ and not pick up his option then sign for less. If that happens perhaps it will keep the Spurs far enough out of the tax to bring in another solid role player that can help the team take one more shot.

The Spurs won't do jack without another big man inside. You need a rotation with Duncan, Splitter, and another approx. 7-footer to compliment your mid-level "bigs" in Dice, Bonner, and Blair. The shooters/slashers (Ginobili, Neal, Parker, Hill, Jefferson) are fine.

Pick up every available big man in the league...and let them rot on our bench just so they can't mushroom stamp us

Money is the Spurs biggest issue. The Spurs could have Duncan opt out and sign at a discount, but that doesn't change the fact that they are paying two rather marginal role players 12.5 million next season. That money would be nice to have right now.

It doesn't matter. If they win this series they get swept by the Thunder. Might as well do something productive with our energy instead of wasting it on the hopeless cause of a team.

Well for one, develop Tiago and Anderson. I would rather go with that combo than depending on a Blair and Hill combo any day.

Hill really needs to be traded. He's just never been a great fit and I don't know that he iwll ever be going forward. His value is pretty high right now and the Spurs could possibly acquire a pretty good player if they combine his contract with Dice's partially guaranteed deal.

I think Dice might call it quits... I don't think we're making any significant move at all...
Ideally, we should start by cleaning up the softer players, like Redhead and potentially RJ... but not going to happen. The problem with moving Hill or Blair is that they're on rookie scale contracts, IIRC. So it's going to be hard to get good value for them.

Not if you package them with RJ or Bonner. Then you can get decent value back.

We can't really deliberate over "realistic" scenarios until we see the new CBA-- Which could be a while.

Most reliable sources believe the lock-out will be til February (like 99') at the earliest.
