Both teams played hard, my man
Paul is getting into the Laker paint and scoring....not Parker. Once in the paint, the Lakers front court is the Memphis front court times 2. They recently give Tony AND Manu a lot of trouble finishing near the rim, two players very capable of getting into the paint on almost any defender...unless it's Mike Conley.
It isn't a question of facing Fisher or Conley, but obviously rather Lakers or Grizzlies. If you seriously think it'll be less difficult against LA, you're borderline re ed.
If the Spurs need bulletin board material to beat the Griz, then they deserve to lose.
You are correct.
But it certainly gives the opponent a fighting chance. Had the Lakers somehow picked up a real pg, game over. Thank god the Lakers have salary problems that keep them from getting better. Come on Luke, pound that cash. Got Ron and Fish for a few more years. Good stuff. Bynum... chances that he stays healthy?
You got the best 3 in the league with Kobe, Gasol and Odom imo. But from there, very dicey. So all is good. No true monster in the house.
Check my profile, 'PG.
I'm a RaptorsfanPERIOD
he should know. he was with paul pierce
The Spurs themselves never have needed this in the Duncan era. The fans... Yep.
I would wait until the Spurs were behind me before I started to talk crap to a three time champion. Manu is not the kind of player you want to piss off. Allen is limited in his effectiveness, but Manu has no cap, he is capable of scoring 45 points in the next game.
This trash talking could be the best thing for San Antonio.
Here you go. Free of charge.I wish Spurs fans could step back and read what they are saying and use logic.
1) Why would a number one seed need bulletin board material to beat an 8 seed?
2) Did they not already have bulletin board material when Memphis tanked very publicly to get the Spurs?
3) Were the Spurs not motivated after losing game one at home as the one seed to an 8 seed that had never won a playoff game before?
4) Do you really need to "Believe" in order for a one seed to beat an 8 seed?
Tony Parker
Chauncey Billups
Deron Williams
Rajon Rondo
Aaron Brooks
Skip/Jameer Nelson
Russell Westbrook
Steve Nash
The Lakers have faced all kinds of PG's the last 3 years...they've effectively taken them all out of the game at some point--with slow-ass Fisher on the court. An inept TP isn't going to change that.
The Lakers are just a better team than the Spurs. They are built for playoff basketball. These are things we know.
I said it would be easier on Parker and I would have rather had the Lakers 1st round. What does it matter? You are either good enough of your not. Get on with it. The Lakers had been playing very poorly until the last game. Honestly, give me a game the Lakers played well before the last? I like playing slumping teams like we seem to be.
Ya?
Sickening, abosolutely SICKENING. This goes beyond disrespect, the Grizzlies are now bullying the Spurs, verbally and physically. The worst part in all of this the Spurs probably won't respond to this. Why would they? The Spurs haven't even respnded to the fact that this team publicly tanked to get them and the fact that Memphis punked them in Game 1.
The Spurs have had this annoying habit of allowing their opposition to gain confidence against them for a few years now. And that hasn't changed in this year's postseason. This has to be the least respected number 1 seed the basketball world has ever witnessed. But the Spurs won't take it personal.
Now, the Spurs will continue going foward with this nonchalant at ude like everything is going to magically work out. And Popovich will continue trotting Bonner out there despite the fact that he is getting drilled in the paint time and time again. All the while Popovich sits there on the bench wondering why the team's defense has been underwhelming.
This will be a learning experience for Memphis to not say/do stupid if you don't want to get your ass kicked on the court.
They are hardly backing up their trash talk. A Battier 3-pointer in one game and a Zach Randolph 3-pointer in another game does not make you the better team.
Spurs in 6.
Yeah you're right... but it should still piss them off.
The Lakers were slumping badly going into the playoffs last year...it just doesn't matter. The Lakers can flip the switch on-and-off as they choose. It's simply not fair, tbqh
Allen is a classless POFS.
I see your point, but in no cir stances other than a big injury to Gasol, Bryant, or Bynum, would I rather face the Lakers at any point over the Grizzlies. The Spurs would have to play close to their ceiling for the entire series to have a shot at winning. They are currently playing pathetic basketball, Memphis is playing relatively well, and each game against Memphis has been really, really close, decided in the final moments.
Did you forget the loss against the Celtics? And seriously, you are telling me you are fine with this team at PG? You obviously care nothing about a team continuing to stay compe ive. Last year you were a K. Perkins injury away from losing. Be real here. That was absolutely the worst shooting game in the history of game 7's. It was atrocious, and it clearly was not the D. Wide open shots missed from everywhere, Kobe and Gasol cleaned up while Perkins was out. Quite simple. Its hard to be objective with 2 championships in a row. I am glad cupcake is GM.
This is a high quality post tbh.
No, but obviously you did. Rondo was not the reason we lost. Paul Pierce and our undermanned front court was the reason LA lost. lol Leon Powe going for 21.
So you're saying the NBA should turn further into pro wrestling and feature stupid -talk for the benefit of the fans? If not for their play on the floor, what shape should the Spurs' response to Allen take, exactly?
Just a difference in final outcomes. I thought very early on that we would not have a chance in unless #1, we signed Splitter, #2 Splitter gave Duncan a significant defensive presence. We got #1...
And then I was absolutely shocked with the way we played in the regular season without Splitter. Then Injuries ac ulate, players get fat (thank you Duan), and you find yourself playing very poorly.
I would rather it end early than late. If people believe this team has no chance, fine. But I see the Lakers as vulnerable. Their D on the perimeter was awful. Kobe was chasing people around, Fisher was getting hammered, a simple pick and players were right by Artest, thats what I saw and still see. A team that is not very good on the perimeter. They looked to have cleared it up the last two a bit, but I dont see an overpowering monster. Yet. Every year is different. I dont listen to the fawning over big market teams, I watch the games.
You gotta be ing kidding me.
