When did the call come in. From what I remember it was after the initial step, not the second step, and, therefore, the miscall voids the second step.
I think what people were disputing was Durant caught the ball in the backcourt initially (first pic) then established position dribbling the ball in the frontcourt and then stepped in the backcourt again (the 2nd pic). It was close last night. I need to see video.

OKC pummels the Nuggets in five and you are whining about his foot was on the line? The Nuggets have only made it out of the first round once during a stretch of eight straight postseason appearances and you think this is some conspiracy?![]()
ma rayjay, your trolling in the past has come back to haunt you. there are people who agree with you but they just hate you so they dont care.
rayray why are you complaining? yeah so it's a backing violation but your nuggs choked a sizable lead going down the stretch.
Wow. Huge missed call, but how can you be surprised honestly?
Other posters pointed out the obvious: OKC got the benefit of the calls.
Nothing you or anyone can do now, for whatever it may be.
You can imagine those turds you are laying are actually chocolate bunnies from Easter and gobble them up. You are still a eater though.
Actually the first step with his left foot with the caught ball was on the line thereby placing him in the backcourt. He then pushed of with the right foot and the next step with the left foot was also on the line so the call is good no matter how you break it down.
Yes , had he taken the next step in the froncourt and then stepped on the line, then that is backcourt. That is not what happened.
The thuggets lost fair and square so get over it and quit acting like a whinny .
Take that Thuggets fan.
That first sentence reminded me I still have a chocolate bunny in my freezer.
The second sentence made me not want to eat it.
Who the is complaining?
lol nuggets
I was at doubt at first but...
NBA Rule 4 Section III - d
A ball being dribbled is (1) in the frontcourt when the ball and both feet of the player are in the frontcourt, (2) in the backcourt if the ball or either foot of the player is in the backcourt.
If his foot was on the line when he caught the ball he was on the backcourt.
He then starts dribbling having his right foot in the frontcourt and his left foot in the air but this does not establishes frontcourt position because the rule says the ball and both feet have to be in the frontcourt for that to happen.
So when he steps with the left foot on the line the second time it's not a backcourt violation, because he was never on the frontcourt.
If he technically caught it in the backcourt, the whistle (IIRC) was on the second misstep - after he was already in the frontcourt. I need to see a YouTube of it or something.
Wow! I had to read through this entire thread before I found one person who actually got it right. Nice.
Basically, there are two points.
1) Was Durant in the backcourt to start? Answer: Yes -- because his foot was on the halfcourt line when he caught the ball. Therefore part (2) applies and he is in the backcourt.
2) Did Durant go into the frontcourt and then back to the backcourt? Answer: No. He did step on the halfcourt line a second time, BUT he did NOT have both feet on the floor across the line AND the ball across the line before that second step on the halfcourt line. Therefore he was never in the frontcourt, because part (1) never applied.
Clear?
I see this all the time, people just don't understand the backcourt rule. As an example, if you're bringing the ball up, you can run dribble the ball in frontcourt, be running back and forth straddling the halfcourt line, as long as both feet never hit the floor together in frontcourt. Or, you can take a step with one foot across the halfcourt line, dribble the ball in frontcourt, and place the other foot on the backcourt line, then go back completely into the backcourt, and it's not a violation. The crowd will scream and yell at the refs but it's the right no-call.
I think what happened to the ref who made the initial call was either:
a) he didn't see Durant's foot step on the line on the catch, or
b) he forgot that you can pass the ball into backcourt on a sideline inbounds.
Bottom line: the initial call was wrong, they got it right by overturning it.
butt hurt nuggets fan....
okc won fair and square
Who ever plays OKC next is going to have hurt feelings as well…![]()
except he dribbled and stepped on the line again. read it before running your mouth ffs.
Wow, idiot...
Talk about a running mouth! Yes as explained many times , the left foot initially was on the line establishing position in the backourt. The next step with the left foot also landed on the line thus maintaing backcourt position already established.Never both feet in the frontcourt to establish frontcourt position.
Hey df ,you are the one that needs to read, or comprehend if capable.
