Parker has one more season on his resume and has been healthier in the playoffs so it makes sense.

    This.

I don't even recall Tony missing entire postseasons.

Oh yeah, TD is just as international as anyone else. Add that nikka to the list.

True. I thought about him having the extra season but I know he didn't score 600pts in 2002. We also only played 5 games in 2009 but Tony played well that series. Still, kind of a surprise to me.

Manu missed the 08-09 playoffs entirely. Also had a limited role in his first year, wasn't exactly the starting PG.

Parker currently has 2568 points in 137 playoff games (18.7ppg)
Manu currently has 1991 points in 121 playoff games (16.5ppg)
Nash currently has 2047 points in 118 playoff games (17.3 ppg)

To put things in perspective, Parker is averaging 36.3mpg, Manu 31.3mpg and Nash 35.8mpg.

If Manu had played the same minutes as Parker he'd be averaging 19.1ppg. If he had played the same number of games he'd be having 2254 points. Same games and minutes he'd be having 2621 points.

I added Nash to my little comparison because I thought he would be ranked higher.

One more stat I found interesting is career playoff wins for active players:
    #1 - Derek Fisher (132)
    #2 - Kobe Bryant (129)
    #3 - Shaquille O'Neal (128)
    #4 - Tim Duncan (107)
    #5 - Tony Parker (81)

The Spurs have only won 1 playoff game since 1997 without Tim Duncan (Game 2 against Phoenix in 2000). They've played without him 5 times over that stretch and are 1-4 without Duncan (all 4 games in 2000; Game 4 at Seattle in 2002).

His mother died when he was younger. Before he played in the NBA, but in 2002 his father passed and I'm not sure if he missed a game against Seattle in the playoffs or not. Can't remember.

Damn my fuzzy memory. There was a time where someone lost someone during the playoffs and Pop's response was "take as much time as you need."

Yes, he missed Game 4 at Seattle in '02 because of his father's death.

I know he said that to Timmy in '02. In fact, I recall that after Game 4, there was great uncertainty about whether he'd be back from the Virgin Islands in time to play Game 5 (2002 was the last year of the best-of-5 first round). I also recall a picture of Tim getting off a plane in San Antonio the day before Game 5 and the sighs of relief that he was back.

I'm pretty sure that Pop said the same thing to Glenn Robinson in 2005.
