DOK, what do you think of Brooks Reed?
Eh, I didn't think he was worth a 2nd round pick but i think the transition to OLB could help him a lot. He has a motor that doesn't stop running, he's not at all great at sealing the edge (which he won't have to be in Houston's defense), and even though he's a honky he's really athletic.

I like Vereen as a player and as a pick by himself, but the Patriots have needs staring them in the face they're not addressing. Not thrilled with Vereen but not unhappy either, hopefully this means Wood never sees the field on 1st or 2nd down.

Pick number 28 HAS to be a DE/OLB... right? Pats fans would be frothing at the mouth if he doesn't pick up SOMETHING for the pass rush in the first two rounds.

    Woodhead = Faulk replacement
Vereen = Likely to platoon with BJGE

Vereen is the most talented back on the roster. He could be a Faulk replacement, but this pick could also be New England planning for what happens when a team overpays BJGE.

I will be pretty upset if they take LeShoure in the second round.

I do agree that the Lions need a linebacker more than a CB. But if Carter isn't there, I'm not really that high on the available 4-3 OLBs left after him and Ayers, while there are several CBs that I would like at that spot. Plus, it's all but an absolute certainty they go after an OLB in free agency.

I also think it's easier to plug in a mediocre to poor linebacker than it is a mediocre to poor corner in the line up. A mediocre to poor linebacker might give up a 20 yard run or pass. A mediocre to poor corner gives up TDs.
    upset?

It's not like BB cares, he wants smart guys who set the edge over guys who rush the passer (not saying I agree, but it is what it is). Ninokovich's stats his 1st 4 years are identical to Vrabel's stats his 1st 4 years so maybe there are similarities there we're not seeing(wishful thinking but it's my only explanation for why BB doesn't draft OLBs), and he's high on Cunningham.

I was hoping he at least saw a need at DE, but he apparently doesn't. I'd love to see tehm draft a center as I'm tired of watching Koppen get shredded in playoff games.

Maybe he thinks Ty Warren coming back will be enough. I'd still like a bruiser on the other side of him though.

I think Ty Warren coming back will be huge, he got surgery for an injury plaguing him for years. The problem is he's a strong side run stuffer, he can't get pressure as a 3-4 D-lineman the way Seymour could. They need someone like that.

    New England trading the pick
You think Belichick talks to the other guys in the draft room before he trades it like, "Guys, I know we need a pass rush, but I can't pass up this chance to piss off our fans, trust me, it's going to be hilarious!"

And then calls in the trade while still in hysterical tears?

Belichick is just stocking up picks so that when Brady retires, we'll be able to get the first round pick by trading our other five first round picks that year.

I agree with this trade down. There's little to no talent downgrade from 60 to 73, netting pick 138 in the process is fine. BB clearly isn't impressed with the prospects so he's trading down. Maybe he's wrong, but if he's not impressed I'd rather him trade down.

Maybe it's a hopeless prediction, but I predict pick 73 will be an OLB . Beal and Houston both have the size at 3-4 OLB BB wants, plus Acho is another good prospect.

Let's face it, it's going to be a 2nd rnd pick in 2012, or a TE.
