Probably not ting himself to the extent you believe. Osama has spoken out revealing that he wants to become a martyr. Almost in a jealous tone at times in reference to his terrorist friends that have died before him. This is exactly how he wanted to die, and he was probably surprised to last this damn long. Surviving for 10 years after a mass mission from the US Army is started in order to kill you is pretty damn long and impressive.

And I agree the shield tactic is for pussies but when it's all said and done (in his mind) he wanted to die in the jihad, probably not from some random stupid reason. It's about time that piece of is dead but I have to recognize his hide and seek skills, I doubt that ever will be duplicated.
