Players don't recover from collapses like this. He had his chance to catch Jordan. It was the single biggest event the NBA would have ever witnessed. Kobe came up short and failed. Failed spectacularly. It's over. He defined his career in the biggest moment of it and it wasn't pretty.
He's had other dismal failures. He rose outta the CO. catastrophe and got to 5. He's borderline sociopath. He'll continue to hunt.

Bryant knows though that at 7 he can sit back and listen to to the din of debate and in his own mind he'll be convinced he is the GOAT. Kobe is not like "you" or I. He can get to 7, it's up to him. He's at the con. We're not. All we do is provide the din before, and after (if it comes to fruition). He cares only about the raw number.

He'll enter his house justified at 7.
One huge factor detrimental to the legacy of Bryant is that he did not make his success against Bird, Magic, Barkley, Hakeem, DRob, Malone (for the most part)...

Who did he beat? Paul Pierce... Ray Allen... Old KG.... Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson... crew of nobodies by the time the rest retire.
20 years from now, Shaq will be remembered as a much bigger influence to the game than Kobe was. Kobe will be remembered as a franchise player on a team that had the power to bring in "help". Kobe needs help. Kobe + quality help = rings. You might argue that for Michael, but then Michael never played second fiddle to any "help".

Between Kobe completely withering in the biggest moment of his career and with his previous quitting, I'm sorry, it's over. There is no arguing otherwise.

He had his chance and came up woefully short. That's just the truth. It was the biggest moment of his great career and he completely the bed.
This is why you cannot ever be taken seriously and are well, a fool.

First off. The Lakers are still playing.

Second, All you haters all year long and whine. If Kobe only played team ball. If he only did this, If he only did that. ANd you all talked about MVPau ad naseum. Kobe has had a very good series. You can look at 12 other Lakers before Kobe in this one. Game one he shot a lot for 49% and played well. Game 2 he takes less shots for 49% and gets his teammates even more involved. 3rd game he had his most effecient game of the series. He has had some costly turnovers and a few blunders but by far has been the best and most consistent Laker out there. He has changed his game all 3 games trying to get his players to respond and only a few have. Shame on you.

Pau the bed. It's been seen by the entire country. It's been commented on by EVERYONE. And PJ showed you all who needed motivation and heart and even then nothing.

What a tool you are DPG. And the comeback with Kobe leading it will be ting right where most your diarrhea resides. Your mouth.

Cobbler, are you mad chum? I am simply stating what is very obvious. Kobe not only is a quitter (see the Suns series), he is a choker who completely melted down in the single biggest moment of his career.

I really do admire you and the way you stick by your team. How do you feel about Cul when he says it's over after game 2?

By Kobe not playing the right way all year, he set himself and his team up for this failure. It's on him and him alone.

If Kobe doesn't lead the comeback and they lose, will you write an apology to me for taking out your anger towards me instead of where it belongs? Kobe's mouth.

All Bryants wants is the raw number (at least 7). He's wise enough, near psychotic enough to realize that that is enough. He cannot control the hum of debate. He can control the raw number and that is what he's hunting.

Sorta like Knight hunting the win record. He knew once he got it they'd denigrate it, but, that's on them, not him.
Kobe is just too old to carry a team now. His only hope is that is for Bynum to be a viable #1 option, so Kobe can slide into that #2 option. I doubt Kobe would be willing to do that though.

Of course it crosses my mind. I ain't a professional. He wouldn't waste a second in "here."

In Kobe's mind getting another ring will put him on par with Jordan. That's all he can control is the raw number. He is just gratefult that (6) is within reasonable reach. He's wise enough to know that he'll never convince the din, and he'll spend nary a second on it, before or, after the fact.

You will get an apology from me about the time you could beat me in a one on one game. ie. never.

You have already concluded a series that is not over. Cul is en led to get his Mid on. Many have. You will not hear it from me. It isnt over till the 48th minute of the 4th loss. That has not happened. If it does, I will tip my hat to the Mavs and their fans and root for the winner of the west whoever it is.

Anybody blaming Kobe for the situation they are in in this series is a complete fool with no knowledge of basketball. He has been the one constant.

    On to game 4...

If Kobe fails it will definitely leave a negative mark on his legacy because he is playing with the 2nd best C and 2nd best Pf.

But you will. You cannot defend Kobe from his point of view, only from yours, and yours is either that Kobe will be as good as Michael if he gets the ring or he will not. Let's not split hairs here.

    Pau's definitely the main reason.

But Kobe doesn't look like he can make an impact that can rival Dirk's or CP3's. He's too old/injured and hasn't put up a complete game all series long: Game 1: 0 assists. Game 2: 0 rebounds. Game 3: 17 points on 16 shots.

You expect more from Kobe against a 38 year old Jason Kidd and Jason Terry. Imo Kobe's injured and fatigued out there. People forget he had knee surgery in the summer, didn't practice throughout the year, and hurt his foot at the end of the season + playoffs.

It's Kobe's moment. His time to catch Jordan. The only moment that truly mattered and he couldn't overcome a bad couple games from Pau? It's on him because he is a mental midget and quitter. He packed it in mentally all year. He breed this disease in the locker room by accepting "coasting". It's on him and you for not speaking up earlier.

In all honesty, Jordan, in his prime, would take this current Lakers team to greater heights than Kobe could.

He won't do for a leaky vessel such as Bynum. & he shouldn't. In order to rearrange the deck the Lakers must have a viable 1 in order for Kobe to relinquish. & frankly there is no sense in resetting the template if the new 1 is without merit. Mitch knows this without being told.

They thought this playoff season would be the beginning of that transition to Gasol. Uh, uh.

Kobe will sit down with Buss & Mitch after the funeral and get back to it.

So, apparently, Kobe needed THREE 20-10 bigs to win, this year..Bynum putting up an unexpected 20-10 dominance wasn't enough to win, along with Lamar Odom having a very good game..Kobe needs all 3 bigs to put up big numbers..

    Spoiled and delusional..

He has been a constant. That much is true. The problem is that his constant has been detrimental to the success of the team, but they have overcome it with team play from collusion acquired players and those leg riders like Artest who would be second options on most other teams. Kobe has been allowed to exist in a carnival where he gets to ride the rides and take the shots for the big stuffed bear, but he's never had to pay the entry fees. That's always been done by the "help".
