2008-09 playoffs: Kobe shoots 45%, Gasol shoots 58% --> LA wins le, Laker fan praises Kobe
2009-10 playoffs: Kobe shoots 45%, Gasol shoots 54% --> LA wins le, Laker fan praises Kobe
2010-11 playoffs: Kobe shoots 45%, Gasol shoots 42% --> LA down 0-3 to Mavs, Laker fan blames Gasol.

Poor Gasol carried Kobe 2 years in a row and gets no credit. The one year where he is run into the ground in the regular season and is not able to dominate (against Dirk, of all people) in the playoffs, he gets blamed for not being a "warrior" like Bean.

The data merely shows what everyone knows deep down. No dominant big man, no le for Kobe.
    Kobe: 2

    Daddy: 1

Gasol couldn't even win a single playoff game till Kobe took him in.

    The constant? Kobe.

The constant was Phil. Kobe lost without Phil. MJ lost without Phil. Phil has 11 rings. Enough said.

Are you freaking serious. Kobe took 16 shots had 6 assists ...

Bynum played well Odom too ...but wait who did NOT play well ...
Pau didn't play that much worse than Kobe, Bynum and Lamar tbh . . . and he had the tougher defensive assignment.

Was I the first person to bring up Kobe in this thread for either Spur fans or Laker fans? I am pretty sure you were the first to bring up Duncan

Talk about a pushing fact bomb I just dropped.
Killa, if you are still dealing with reality, please address this or write a formal apology.

Astute observation. Too bad no big man is able to mask that.

Kobe doesn't have to guard anyone and Pau has to guard the best player in the West, and Kobe fan wants to rip him. Unreal.

    Personally this thread is hilarious.

I say the Lakers, and Kobe has choked.

I say that the Mavs as much as it hurts to admit are better ...heck I even admitted (not here but in another thread) that RC has outcoached PJ ...

Im freely willing to eat all of that but yall want to focus on Kobe ...for what exactly.

He is not even the 5th best player of these playoffs. And has missed his last 5 game winning FGA's he has attempted. I have my own issues with Kobe. But I wont take, is you guys putting that walking pusshole Pau over Kobe. Not on my watch. So i will defend that all day. Kobe was dealing with rape trials and never ed out like this...

So call out Kobe. say he crumbled ...but he never ed out ... well maybe game 7 vs. Phoenix ...LOL

    Summary of thread:

When Gasol shoots 10 percentage points higher than Kobe, he gets no credit.
When Gasol shoots 3 percentage points below Kobe, he gets all the blame.

Where are the stat heads you guys bring up FG% ...
PER says Kobe was better in last year's Finals, the regular season this year and Im pretty damn sure this playoffs as well ...but nice try smart guy!
Lastly, PER rewards inefficient shooting. To quote Dave Berri, the author of The Wages of Wins:

"Hollinger argues that each two point field goal made is worth about 1.65 points. A three point field goal made is worth 2.65 points. A missed field goal, though, costs a team 0.72 points. Given these values, with a bit of math we can show that a player will break even on his two point field goal attempts if he hits on 30.4% of these shots. On three pointers the break-even point is 21.4%.

If a player exceeds these thresholds, and virtually every NBA player does so with respect to two-point shots, the more he shoots the higher his value in PERs. So a player can be an inefficient scorer and simply inflate his value by taking a large number of shots."
Last couple of lines will probably be on Kobe's gravestone

Bynum is top 10 in PER, why does Kobe need 2 other players to be in the top 10 PER to win? He's the only guy with two players from the same team in the top 10 and he's losing.

Westbrook was the best player in the West

Also, Pau did sack up. He upped his averages and shot over 50+% to make up for Kobe having to defend.

Has Kobe shot over 50% to help him out?

Just meant best player (in that series) not West ...did not mean to bold West part ...

and yes i know Durant is/was better but he was struggling ...
