So lemme get this straight, Kareem is the all time leader in career points, has had seasons where he averaged 35+ PPG, and maintained his career average over a 20 year span.....yet Melo is a better scorer because he averages 24.8 points at 46% shooting while Kareem averaged 24.6 points at 56% shooting which is .2 PPG less than Melo?

I want to know why you think it makes sense to say that someone in their prime is better than someone who averaged five more points than said person in his prime, and ended up being the best scorer in history.
It's not my argument. Argue with the numbers or ask for different criteria. Dirk is not top 15 all time in pure scoring. Dirk is not "like Larry Bird", depending on how you define "like". You could define it to make it where Dirk is exactly like Bird.

You have to factor in all years, not just "in his prime" when you say "all time" unless you want "in his prime", at which point you would need to qualify "all time" with "in their primes". At that point I couldn't argue because it would be pretty much subjective as to what cons utes "prime".
