Shooting well 3's is very important in today's NBA.

memphis is probably watching saying another 3pt team for us to shut down
I was thinking the same thing.....
Were they not the way to go today?
It would bring me great pleasure to see that happen.
Hitting twenty 3s probably is the way to go.
Counting on hitting twenty 3s? Not so much.
"I've decided to sit Tyson Chandler. Playing him wouldn't be fair to the team." -![]()
it wasnt just 3s it was perfect execution and ballmovement that lead to tons of open 3s.
Its not Orlando that jacks them up because thats the ONLY way they can play...
if u have 3 point shooters like Dirk, Jet, and Peja, why not?
Say what you will, Pop was right overall. Everyone thought SA could beat most teams but if you wanted to win a le you had to go through LA. The way to beat them was to up the pace, out run them and be prolific from 3PT land.
It was the right strategy to beat LA, but the Spurs the bed and never got that far.
Oh great... Now Pop is going 4 outside shooting guards to surround Tim next season.
Remember....when you have CHOKERS for 3 pt shooters...
It won't end well.
Umm, the Mavs winning had more to do with them holding the Lakers to less than 90 PPG and neutralizing Gasol than hitting threes.
Defence? Nah, thats too old school (sarcasm)
This is the new !![]()
Well if only we actually had 3 pt shooters that could make their 3's.
Hill, RJ, and Bonner would have clanked all those shots.
Of course 3's are the key for the spurs:
but you just need real shooters in your team.
Stop taking stupid 3's manu, bye bye hill, bye bye bonner and we need more gary neal and it's done.
This is something he needs to stop doing but I think as he slowly gets older its a part of his game that will increase.
% wise on open 3's hes probably a 50% 3 point shooter he just takes so many stupid contested 3 pointers it puts hime down to what 35%.
Agree with you, Manu is usually money when he gets a good open shot but that stupid step back 3 of his with a defender in his face is very ineffective. He misses them more often then not, yet he takes so many of them. It's things like that from him that make me![]()
The key was Chandler/Dirk/Marion/Haywood not giving up an inch of size (and therefore rebounding or post position) to the LA bigs. Did you not see how Gasol and Odom looked in the paint when they didn't have the size advantage? Plus Kobe had 1 layup in the 4 games combined.
LA had a lead in both games 1 and 3, but could get no easy baskets down the stretch. Theoretically a team's execution on offense and defense should be independent of each other. However, being able to shut down a team on defense often fuels the confidence needed to make big shots. The Spurs OTOH knew that if they missed a shot they'd not be able to guarantee stops at the other end, and that was a reason behind their lack of confidence.
not exactly playoff 3 pt shooters
That's it in a nuts . The Lakers were also jacking up 3, but most of them were contested, or late in the shot clock and they weren't hitting them cause most guys were holding on to the ball and then putting up bad shots. Lack of execution and ball movement. The opposite of what the Mavs were doing.
yeah, threes are big but we have some shyt shooting them most of the time, regular season players.
easy to make threes when you are open and ahead in the series 3-0
no pressure at all
When you have good big men, yes. When you have Bonner, Blair..........
