No damage control, truth tbh. This Laker team is it's own worst enemy. They feel like they can turn on whenever they want and it doesn't always work like that. Even when they were choking that 16 pt lead away I think I saw LO telling someone in the stands something like "we got this, don't sweat it" - or some crap like that.
They lost I don't know how many games this year because they thought they could show up and win. To be honest, this lost (although I missed it) pisses me off more than that s acking we received to the Spurs in 2003 and the 2008 game 6 debacle combined. There is no excuse for this Lakers' team to not be in the Finals. But they won't be because they got complacent and full of themselves.
Lakers' offseason to do list:
1. LO, Pau, or Bynum needs to go. Great luxury to have when the guards actually use them - like Memphis is doing.
2. Get rid of Shannon Brown. He sucks ass. If it's not a dunk, he ain't .
3. Buy out Fisher. Love his 0.4 dagger and other memorable moments he provided, but he was done 3 years ago. One of the main reasons Fisher was put into those positions was because the Lakers are behind the 8-ball every night at the PG position. Kobe can't carry Fisher no more. This leads to #4
4. Sign a real PG. The triangle is gone if PJ is gone. Now more than ever they need a real PG. Either Pau, LO, or Bynum should be traded to get one.
5. Sign a 3pt sniper. It was GLARINGLY obvious that they need a shooter to provide spacing in the worst way. Clank. Clank. Clank...
6. Hire a coach that will get in Kobe's face. Kobe has the Lakers' franchise handcuffed right now. How you ask? "No Trade Clause". He probably has the only one in the league. As great as Kobe is, he is hard headed. If he wants to go into Kobe-ball mode, what coach has the balls to yank him out of the game and yell at him (like PJ used to do before his infamous book) as needed? No one. No one can do it.
I have no idea if the Magic will trade D12 to LA or not. Right about now, I could give a less. This was a pitiful way for the Lakers to go out. Laker fans deserve better because they had the tools to do it. But they squandered a golden opportunity. Talk about frustrating.

Agree with a lot of what you say. But this team is not THAT far away but let's be honest here, we just barely made it across the finish line last year. we added Blake and Barnes and both battled health issues and inconsistency. Mavs just put us out of our misery before Miami, OKC, Grizz or Celts did. And you are right we need a better PG many have been calling it for years.
Fish should be a luxury NOT a necessity.
As for Kobe sure he still chucks, but he is NOT the problem here.
