Exactly. Tony Allen and Iggy were much better defensively this year.
It's a shame. Juste has to see how Durant was shut down by Tony Allen in the 4th quarter and overtime of game 3

Kobe - what a joke! Wanna bet that Pop was one of the idiots who voted for him? Wonder if he'd vote for Tony Allen or Battier after the MEM series.

Kobe is so damn overrated on D as I said a million times. His name gets him there alone.

Haven't seen anyone in this thread saying he deserved it or crying about it.
Spurs defense has not been great this year. And Duncan has obviously lost a step defensively.

It's just that it's the first time in his career...

Maybe the reason Kobe is overated defensively for so many years is him playing with Fisher.

When a star PG start to be hot, they put Kobe on him and it help LA a lot (see OKC series last year).
But it's just because Fisher being soooooo bad defensively that the difference seems huge

Or it's just Stern, conspiracy, product marketing etc...

    I agree 100% man. It's a total joke.

Kobe barely averaged 1 steal a game and 0.2 blocks per game. He couldn't guard anyone of worth in the play-offs. He hasn't been much more than lengthy on defense for years.

Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo and Kobe Bryant are all overrated defensively, but LeBron deserves his placement. I'm surprised that Luc Mbah a Moute, Andrew Bogut, Thabo Sefolosha, Aaron Afflalo, Dwyane Wade and Kirk Hinrich didn't get more votes. They all deserved to be chosen as well, IMO.

Timmy Duncan is no longer a elite-level defender, but is still good to very good. The demise of our defense has more to do with a lack of size/rim protection/shot blocking, minus Tim, and poor perimeter defense. Put Duncan on any competent defensive team (Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, New Orleans) and he would thrive, IMO.

Allen's D is filthy - he should have made the first team, not Kobe.

As for Timmy, 1228 games on his legs and he's sadly on the decline. However, put the right team around him and he can still influence a game defensively, just like KG does for the Celts.

Lack of Serge Ibaka is disappointing.
