Will this loss and it's venom carry over into next season?
Should Brian lead the purple and Gold and incorporate a whole new offense?

Should the Lakers bring in a new "big name" coach?

Theories? comments? Words of wisdom? What plays out next season?

If the Lakers won it all this year it would have been easier to hand the keys to Brian Shaw. He would have 72 virgins waiting for him while he gets the reins of a championship team from Phil. But Rakaruva might have been right all along, Shaw might turn into the mental midget that Gasol and Odom turned into in the last series especially that the Lakers need to retool with a steady and charismatic coach.

I think the bigger immediate problem for the Lakers is the team as-constructed. Given the implosion we saw yesterday, does this team have another deep playoff run in them? Because if not they're sitting on a huge amount of salary and very few ways to move it.

It's all mental. They don't really need a major revamp unless the opportunity presents itself *ehem*D12*ehem*

Let's see if Jackson is going to actually leave the Lakers afore we start a search. He wouldn't a left had we rang, so, when we didn't he was caught unawares, hence the refusal to confirm last night. The TV crew even got the talking points/marching orders about Phil "being bored in Montana." And they all said the same thing at the same time. It was like a Barbershop Quartet with it.

    Be still.

Is PJ done? I'd say about a 95% chance he is...but you never really know with him.

Is Jax to humble to retire on a bad note?

    Probably not

Steve Kerr thinks his health & back problems will force him to call it a career though

I think as is, he's done. But what if the Lakers pull off a gasol or bynum for dwight deal? Depending on the makeup of the new team, he might find the challenge there interesting and the call to return. My 2 cents anyway.

Not many coaches inherit a championship team. Phil is one of the few. The other would be Barry Switzer.

When he came back begging Kobe for his job back we weren't a championship team.

They should find someone else and let Shaw be the starting point guard.

Neither were the bulls the previous 6 years. And for that matter neither were the Lakers pre 00.

DMC is losing it today (I know, not so different from anyday). PJ might have inherited championship quality players but it took him and his staff to mold those players into CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS.

    Pre PJ.

    MJ - failure
    Pip - failure
    bulls role players - failures
    Shaq - failure
    Kobe - failure
    Laker role players -failures

common thread amoung all those player les - PJ

System isn't a problem imho, I would go with Shaw. What LA needs to do is to get younger, better players/shooters. Fisher and Artest shouldn't be starters next season.
