HOUSTON -- A Cleveland, Texas, man was attacked by a feral cat that normally lives in the wild.
Charles Gibson's injuries were so bad that he had to be rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston in critical condition on Friday.
The attack happened at the 40-year-old's home on CR 3182, a few miles south of Cleveland in Liberty County.
It was around 1 p.m. when investigators said Gibson came home and found a 20-pound tabby standing in the middle of his living room staring back at him. Scared, police said, the man grabbed a knife to try to protect himself.
But seconds later, the feral cat attacked him in the bathroom, authorities said.
Gibson admitted he stabbed the cat multiple times, but could not remember anything else.
When medics arrived, he was bleeding profusely and was rushed to the hospital.
On Monday, he was back at home and feeling a bit better. Doctors said he will need many more surgeries in order to fully recover.
As for the feral, it was taken by animal control officers, tested for rabies and then euthanized.
Results from those tests are not back yet.

20 lbs. is a big damn cat.
I would not mess with a crazy cat. No matter the size. Unless I had a gun or bow and arrow. I remember the video of that cop with the cat getting medieval on his leg. No thanks.
The cats name was Pinky.![]()
The le is hilarious.
Never bring a knife to a catfight.
I don't care if it were a rabid cat, it's still 20 lbs. I would have slaughtered that piece of .
20 pound cat really isn't THAT big. My mom's cat is in excess of 20 pounds and he's a fatty but I'm fairly sure I could whip his ass
You've got to be kittying me..
A pissed off cat really is no joke.
I've had cats all my life, as well as dogs. Twice my cat has attacked my dog randomly and both times they scratched my leg. Nothing too bad since they were small cats, and weren't living in the wild obviously.
But trying to stop one or get in one's way while it's attacking something or someone is not easy. They will tear up your arm/leg or whatever if they can.
Just watch the video and see the dude's scar...sick.
Holy crap! Here I thought it was just a few scratches.

Guy should have been more calculated with his knife attack.
Ouch! My cat got her ass kicked by one of those giant bully cats last year and developed a massive infection requiring surgery. Vet said each one of their claws is like a hypodermic needle full of the nastiest bacteria on earth......
I don't think that show My Cat From would have helped this kitty.![]()

I imagine that the cat jumped up on him and just kind of hung there on his arm since he was probably trying to shake her off. Then she just slid down his arm creating that huge gash.
That's kind of what happened to me with my cat. And yet I still own them.
He pulls a knife, you pull a cat. That's the Houston way.
Is this the cat that attacked him?

He should have surprised the cat and just punted it before the cat had a chance to get angry. Guess the guy didn't have cat like reflexes.
