We make fun of them...and rightly so...but it if a couple of Hollywood A-listers starting wearing these every other person in the US would own a pair. It's not much worse than those ugly ass snow boots.

I do not know if it is different outside of Texas but there is a trned amongst girls for the past year or so to wear boots or high top shoes and tuck their pants into them.
All I have to say tho that is that if you are a fat chick and/or have a big ass, it makes you look more fat with a bigger ass.
It serves to streamline the lower legs to accentuate curves. Thats great if you are 5'9" and 130 lbs. Not so much if you are 5'2" and 130 lbs.

Yeah, that's a look that has gotten trendy despite there only being a very specific body type who can pull it off.
Doesn't even have to be a fat girl for this trend not to work. I'm thin, but have broad shoulders and am generally top heavy and you couldn't pay me to wear a pair of jeans that taper at the ankle.
I went to Lane Bryant a few days ago when shopping with a heavy friend and saw a pair of size 28 jeggings. I'm all for providing cute/young/trendy clothes for big girls and think that anyone, at any size, can and should feel great about their clothing options, but... seriously, who thought that would be a good idea? So unflattering.
People just doesn't get the idea that just because it looks good on other people doesn't mean it will look good on them too. You have to dress around your body type.
