anyone catch that? who was it? I missed the 10pm news
Spurs flew in Hunter from Butler for workouts today.
Based on the way they played against Memphis, I'm sure there are a lot of college kids that could help. Unfortunately, there's still that draft thing to contend with. Whover he is, he'll have to be available at the end of the first round. Maybe they're hoping nobody else has heard of him? Did the article tell everyone to keep quiet about him?
Matt Howard.
You're right its Howard. Dont know how I got Hunter. He only 6'7" though. He can put the ball on the floor and shoot the ball pretty well. Very scrappy type player. Too bad he not 6'9".
I smell ginger, with insane three pt shooting.![]()
The Spurs are trying to get a Dwight Howard/Matt Bonner hybrid?![]()
Sorry, Matt Howard would fit in better with a tough, scrappy, getting-hands-on-the-ball team like Memphis.
Matt Howard has been one of my favorite college basketball players to watch the past couple of years. He won't jump out of the gym but he competes better than almost any player out there.
This dude doesn't have size and he doesn't shoot the ball that well. It really concerns me that the Spurs see enough in him to fly him in. The very fact that he is coming makes me even less confident in the people running the Spurs organization. A waste of time, IMO.
Even though he's 6'8", he does so many things well, he would be a terrific asset on any NBA team. He's one of the better screen setters, he plays fantastic team defense, he creates loose balls and then he ends up with them, he gets garbage baskets because he works for them and his rebounding ability is based on his technique, judgment and tenacity. This guy is not another Matt Bonner. He just makes things happen and he's a winner.
The first time I saw Matt play, it was his sop re year in a game against Stephen Curry at Davidson. He looked cloggy in those black high tops and he wasn't very fast, but he was just tenacious like a Bulldog. He won ugly, in ESPN terms, but in basketball terms, he won because he's a real savvy basketball player.
Look, I may be wrong about Howard...I've been wrong before...but I feel as strong about Matt Howard's ability as I did back in 2003-04 about Tony Allen. Some guys just get after it.

Nice, good call.
We need athletes or decent bigs, this guy is neither.
^ this.
Aside from that, if he cannot spread the floor consistently, Pop wouldn't be interested anyway?
The spurs are flying in prospects daily these days to get a closer look, no big deal....
he'll sit on the bench for 2 to 3 years then be traded to another team and do better with that team becuase Pop doesn't have the patience to develope players
Yea, I cringe every time I see Mahimni put up 20 and 10 for the Mavs.![]()
I'm glad you feel the same way, The Spurs don't need more offense they need DEFENSE, Timmy needs help in the paint, I'm sorry I forgot we got Bonner
spurs need someone to literally just beat the out of the other team on defense like bowen used to
He's like Brian Cardinal lite. But if he drops opposing forwards with hard screens and just battles his ass off when it the game, there is always room for players like that on any team.
I can see the revamped bench already: Hill, Neal, Howard, Bonner, Blair...
Can't wait...![]()
The guy is barely over 220 pounds. He's not going to drop anyone with his screens.
Howard is one of the reasons Butler lost their final game in the NCAA tourny. He was like 3-14 and took horrendous shots and missed so many easy layups.
