you talkin about? It's pretty obvious why he wasn't able to make a better challenge, he was running backwards and backpedaling in order to guard the ball and had to go from running backwards to gathering a jump to attempt to block. Clearly much harder to block a shot in that situation as a 6'4" guard, especially when it's 6'9" Gibson but at least he tried unlike most players who are worried about getting posterized.
