2011 is the 50th anniversary of the "Freedom Rides."
There's a pretty amazing do entary on tonight at 8PM (and I'm sure later on PBS's website) which do ents the journey from Baltimore to their ultimate destination of New Orleans.
I had a chance to catch it in its entirety in February for school. The author of one of the only books to do ent the rides spoke at USC as well as several of its participants.
I had heard of the event and knew that there was violence involved, as many of the events during the era, but seriously not to this extent. Out of serious control. The film broke my heart. Seriously worth catching or DVRing.
The website is very detailed and has some awesome info too..

Thanks for the heads up, ash; I'll definitely check it out.
Is it a do entary or a whiteguiltary?
Why is ash considered a racist? I'm gonna need a reference thread. Very curious, tbh
...so did that guy ever look at the car?
Half and half. They do interview many of the white college students that participated. The author of the book that spurred the do entary is actually white. He started researching the topic because there wasn't a book specifically dedicated to the topic.
Yes
Not surprised. White people love to hate themselves.
Do a search on "pepper spray". That one was a good one.
she's racist cause she wanted pepper spray cause she had to go door to door in some ty neighborhoods?
and lol at the first post "pepper spray will only make them mad. Strap up"
