saw Splitter at library, asked about MVP

I was at the library downtown the other day doing some research for a project I’m working on and ran into Tiago Splitter. He was in the reference section rifling through what looked to be an atlas. Let me tell you something…this guy is big. Not only is he tall, but he is much wider than he appears on TV. Many years ago, I ran into Derek Harper at a mall in Dallas. I was shocked to see how tall he really was. And I would say that Splitter is even a couple of feet taller than Harper. I can’t imagine how anyone could ever shoot over him.

Anyway, there were a hundred things I wanted to ask him but I thought this might be a good chance to settle the Euroleague MVP debate that has been going on here at SpursTalk. I didn’t want to sound like I was doubting him so I tried to play it kind of cool. Even though I’m not familiar with the Euroleague, I said, “Hey, weren’t you the Euroleague MVP?” As he began to answer, I was once again blown away by how physically formidable the guy is. If there is even an ounce of athleticism in the guy, he’s going to be able to contribute to the Spurs and play
on an NBA level.

After a few minutes, I thanked him for his time and walked away in awe of his size and appreciative of his seeming good nature.
