Tim Duncan
1999 twin towers
1) When I was like 9-10 years old I got David Robinson's rookie card in the first pack of basketball cards I ever opened. My brother was pissed!!!!! All Spurs since then....
2) Since David Robinson's rookie year.
Been fan since 98..i'm from bosnia and at that time there wasn't much hoop magazines but SFOR u.s. soldiers brought some and there was this guy 21 ever since man....hi to everyone i've been watching this forum for a long time saw this thread as a way to introduce myself...
Became a fan as a kid in Louisiana listening to WOAI in the late 1970's. Gervin, Kenon, Paulz, Dampier and Silas.
Since about 92. I grew up in SA and my 1st grade teacher asked me if i saw the 360 dunk david robinson did the other night. I figured I better start watching the spurs games. So I did. I got hooked. We were at disney world during the 95 playoffs..I cried when we lost to houston and didn't want to go to the magic kingdom the next day. I also cried when we won in 99. I don't know how I got so emotionally attached. Maybe because I got to meet avery johnson and david robinson as a kid at cornerstone church. Maybe because not even a lot of my friends in San Antonio gave them a chance. I liked the us against the world thing and us coming through and winning championships besides no one wanting us to win. I can go on and on about why im a Spurs fan. Just know it runs deep.
1. because i was once told i would play for the spurs and i liked their teamwork and defense
2. 12 years
Did you end up playing for them at all?
Welcome my friend and I love your user name. I am a big Dracula fan.
1. I love that they won and did it quietly and efficiently. The franchise and Duncan in particular have a quiet, professional at ude that stuck out from the flamboyant at udes of the Lakers 2. I was never a big basketball fan growing up but I think it was the 2nd championship win for the Spurs that marks the moment I became a fan.
Reason: D-Rob
Since: 1992
Live in Northern Virginia but Wizards always suck. My cousins and I appreciated the way Spurs conducted themselves growing up and jumped on bandwagon during 07 playoffs.
Began watching games when I was 7 in 95. D-Rob was a beast.
OP is underrated...can't believe I didn't catch that
Because of the Iceman, the Admiral and Manu... I AM...
because younger i had (and always) a passion for planes/aircraft/navy etc...and i when i read the nickname of dave robison aka THE ADMIRAL...i wanted to know more about him...and i watched spurs games and i loved to watch them, to see a human 7,1 run like a PG and dunk 360 etc...it was in 1993..then i am spurs4ever fan!!
i live in france, i realize my dream to meet him in 2007 and went to san antonio 3 times between 2007 and this year 2011...i hope to come back next year for maybe the TIM DUNCAN FAREWELL (snif)
GO SPURS GO!!!!!
DEFENSE! TWIN TOWER DEFENSE!
when i first learned the fundamental of the game. 1998
By the way, I discovered Robinson in 1992 while watching the Portland pre-olympic tournament in Portland
I'm left-handed and so is Robinson; yes, Mullin is left-handed too and is one of my favorite players, but D*Rob was such an impressive athlete
I was 11 back then when I started to be a Spurs fan. I was hearing a lot of good stuff about Duncan when he was in his first year playing for the Spurs but none of my friends were talking about him because of his playing style. I wanted to be different since most of my friends were a fan of Garnett, Shaq, Grant Hill, Penny, MJ, Pippen and others. But then I realized, Duncan is as good as those players or even better and at the same time he's humble. Definitely one of the most classiest player ever! So that's about 14 years as a Spurs fan. Other factors... Steve Kerr, Dennis Rodman & Andrew Gaze.
I also remember hating Kobe before and guess what? I still hate him. LMAO!
Born in SA in 1967, started going to games in 1977. Fan for life.
Loving all the D Rob No. 50 love on this thread!
Shout out to Andrew Gaze !!!
