Actually that looks a bit like something Tim mastered back in the day. If a guy's crowding you, reaching in bring the ball low and then raise up through his arms in a shooting motion. Every once in a while a guy's quick enough to turn it into a clean strip, but mostly it was a good way to get a quick foul called on an overly aggressive defender. He didn't usually do it out near the three point line of course. The video quality's not great and the there's no close up replay so I can't speak to the level of actual contact in the clip.

This is what the NBA has become arm flailing, body flopping garbage.

it's ridiculous how Stern and the NBA took down Memphis. This was a real team and just because they were an "8 seed" the NBA saved the embarrassment and plain took them out of compe ion with the refs. disgusting.

I don't know see why people are so suprised and talking about it even more now. Every ing so called "superstar" gets phantom calls. From Kobe to Wade to LeBron to Rose to Durant, doesnt matter. Every game theres at least 4-5 phantom calls that superstars get, that's just the way the game is....

That happens pretty often though. The NBA rarely allows defenders to body up that much nowadays outside of the paint without a call happening sometime throughout the game.

I actually want to root for durant, buying into the hype I guess, but I can't seem to to do it. His constant chucking, and slowing the game down with his freebie parade, is annoying as . When he doesn't get to the line, I barelly even notice he's in the game.

Pierce and Ginobili both make flopping an art form. Main difference is that Ginobili is like Rembrandt and Pierce is like Picasso.

Pierce flops, but at least usually there's SOME form of contact. And he's good at drawing it with the pump/headfake.

I don't mind when players embellish slightly. I just hate phantom fouls, or ones where the player who embellishes makes it too damn obvious.

The difference I see with Durant vs Ginobili/Fisher/Varejao is that he carries the superstar badge while the others don't, and that play is most definitely one of his 'goto' moves. With Pierce at least you can say he's an old hag and so his veteran savvy can pull that play to make up for his lack of athleticism. But to see a young Durant do that 2/3 times a game and have Hubie Brown preaching how good he is when he pulls that is sad/hilarious

It never matters unless it's the last play of the game that could have won it. At that time, it's gone over relentlessly by everyone on the planet because 2 points then is better than 2 points in the middle of the 2nd.
