can you free roam like in GTA?
Finished the first disk. Fun, but gets a bit repe ive. I can imagine Rockstar should pump out some good DLC, since it wont be that hard to do so.
can you free roam like in GTA?
Yeah. Not much to do outside of missions, though. But they do have like 40 cop missions, where you stop robberies and things like that.
lucky you got it early. gotta wait for it to get in the mail. hated mass effect 2 disc system cant imagine how bad the 3 disc system is for la noire
From what I have seen it looks bad ass but it kind of looks like it might be a one-and-done kind of game. Once you already know the cases I can't see re-playing it, well other then maybe increasing your case score but that doesn't seem appealing to me. It just looks like that the replay value is kind of bad on this one. It's getting awesome reviews everywhere though.
I'll probely just wait on this one and maybe pick it up on a holiday sale.
Already on third disc.
Replay value can suck my .
ing xbox crapped out today, saves me money on games i guess
damn 3 discs I better get downloading
Can I go on killing sprees? That's kind of the only reason I play GTA games.
It's more grown-up than GTA was I guess--kind of plays on the namesake 'noire' of that period in L.A. It can seem repe ive, but the richness of the game itself makes it a great break from Black Ops. I've gotten only a few of the question sessions completely right. There needs to be a little more depth to the missions on some occasion, but an overall interesting game.
Very different breed of game. More Indigo Prophecy/Heavy Rain than GTA, for sure.
I like it, in doses.
I've been waiting to see whatchoo thought of it. Little disappointed, I gotta say. I expected a dissertation on it after all the growing anticipation you seemed to hold for it. Are YOU disappointed?
Time constraints and lack of play time.
I am not disappointed. I am about 5-6 cases into the game and it shines in the areas it tries to. Namely investigation, evidence gathering, set piece action sequences and (most importantly) interrogations.
It isnt like any other game, it just looks like GTA when you drive around and mildly resembles it in the gun-play.
But the facial technology drives the gameplay immaculately. The ability to read an avatars face as you would a normal individual is pretty uncanny. Dont get me wrong, some of it is overly-done...for example, an early Person of Interest is an open book for when they are truthful and when they are lying. Her face is sedate and her eyes stay fixed upon you when she is being truthful, but when she lies, her eyes wander side-to-side and her face becomes a very subtle grimace (like she is hiding something).
While it may be obvious, its still amazing to me that a video game can accurately convey the subtle cues of the emotional spectrum we as a species have developed over a long period of time. Ive read a couple reviews and it seems that this obviousness gets less and less so as the game progresses. POIs become much harder to read, youll have to rely on your evidence as opposed to your ability to visually read whether a character is lying or not.
The setting captures the idealized 1940s crime drama damn near perfectly, IMO. I am not a big reader of noire (ie none), nor do I have a real appreciation for the genre. But I do now and that says something for the execution of the game itself, I think.
The characters and story lines are engaging, the new, unfamiliar and wholly original gameplay is executed extremely well, the tech under the hood is (IMO) the new industry standard for all games no matter the genre, the setting is damn cool...
Really, it comes down to whether you are at all interested in a completely new IP that features a very unique sort of deliberate gameplay that frankly, I have never seen or played before.
I think its pretty damn good. Not GOTY good, but I could certainly see it getting some votes. Its a damn fine, AAA le that is wholly original in an industry of sequels and shooters where originality and deviation from what sells is frowned upon.
I commend Rockstar for having the balls to see this through fruition. Damn good game.
Great writeup, and I agree for the most part, from the novel concept to a growing interest in the genre whereas none lied before.
I do like some of the cameos I'm come across so far. Couple a' B-list TV actors, but still...
I'm pretty unimpressed so far. I'll give it a chance, and it's good enough to keep me going but just barely.
So far it most reminds me of Mafia and Heavy Rain and compared to those two it's not even close to being as good.
About to finish it. If you play it expecting GTA or RDR gameplay, I can understand why you would be disappointed. I treat it as an adventure game, and it's been really satisfying. Heck, I don't even drive around. The only thing I wish is that the cases would be a bit longer.
Not expecting GTA, expecting something like a blend of Mafia and Heavy Rain, but it seems closer to Heavy Rain but it's just not as good so far.
I'm through the first disk, we'll see how the rest goes.
Am I the only one that feels as though I am randomly guessing between Truth, Doubt, Lie? It seems as if they will say something that really has no bearing on any evidence that I collected or really the overall case and I have to decide if they are telling the truth. I like it.. but as someone said in doses.
I felt like that at first. Picked it up midway through the second disc. Haven't played the game in a week, and I don't feel like playing it anymore. Not that great.
I read that the story progresses regardless of how good/ ty you are at playing detective. What's the point of finding clues/learning how to gauge an interrogation if it matters little in advancing the game?
Totally ruins the allure of the game for me.
graphics look great, gameplay sounds boring as . Glad I'm not missing out on much
It's just unfortunate. It's like they don't even test these games with real people. Seriously, how many times do I have to chase idiots on foot? Change it up for crying out loud.
A better idea would have been if one guy runs and gets hit by a car, maybe he makes it and you interrogate him at the hospital while he's cuffed to a gurney, Or maybe he dies and the case is solved, or he's inconsequential and running for some other reason.
How bout a motorcycle chase?
How bout your partner actually helps? He always says he's going to cut him off or some BS but he's never around, wouldn't it be awesome if the perp runs towards a corner and gets popped in the face with a trashcan lid by your partner?
Seriously, it's not that hard to be creative.
