Most spectacular video I've seen yet of the Apr 27th outbreak, with the exception of the Tuscaloosa Tornado
This is the Cullman Tornado, best view yet in HD

Happy birthday to me!![]()
Gotta be the Tri-State, although I'm sure it's unconfirmed since we didn't have a damage scale back then, or even reliable evaluation methods.
Confirmed... maybe the Oklahoma City tornado? There aren't that many F5s in recorded history, so it shouldn't be too difficult to narrow it down, especially if you're talking about post-Fujita scale and thus confirmed damage reports and building codes.
Looks like Joplin Missouri just got hit by a tornado....
Watching a live stream and it appears pretty bad, hope there aren't any fatalities
about 10 tornado warned storms ranging from Wisc to Texas
Reminder...Storm Chasers special tonight at 9 CST.
Ugly supercells moving east from the Texas border down to Brownwood.
ugh...really bad damage in Joplin(? I think it's Joplin, could be Duquesne) Went right through a commercial area.![]()
I'm so ing tired of seeing s shocked people wandering through devastation.
Just an amateur guess, but it looks like EF3 type damage, at least
at least 24 reported dead in Joplin.
The video I've seen is reminiscent of Tuscaloosa...not good
here's some
i drove from Dallas to Lubbock today and i saw two of them that each produced golfball/baseball sized hail. (I was pretty far north, but I heard the warnings on the radio). The thuderclouds were massive and they had some serious overshooting tops.
tbh I think they went over I-20, which is actually the route i usually take. picked a bad day to take the other highway
The post-incident review of Joplin today should be interesting. Reports are the residents had less than five minutes warning. With our weather technology that just blows my mind.
For contrast, they had almost half an hour warning in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham...
first video is starting to emerge... Big ing wedge
and yeah, 5 minutes just isn't enough, especially for a fast moving monster like the Joplin storm
Incredible footage taken as the tornado goes right over these people. Not much to see, but the audio is chilling
Another moderate risk day for people in the upper Midwest, as well as OK/Kan/Ark/Mo, including Joplin.
Unfortunately, these ongoing storms will hamper rescue/recovery efforts in the beleaguered town.
Had a very interesting, yet somber show on last night (discovery channel) called Tornado Rampage, or something like that. Covered the tornadoes that ripped up Alabama a while back.
Absolutely devastating, what those storms did. Wow...
exactly, how the do you only get 5 minutes of warning with a monster storm like this?
