Texas has the nicest variety of plates I've seen. But I think the Spurs is just for show and not officially offered.

Also why does Florida Gators have a Texas license plate...that's pretty far-fetched.

It's asking for a survey, not that they are out there already.

That plate is legit, it's posted on the Spurs Facebook page:

Take a look at our proposed Spurs specialty license plate design soon to be available in the state of Texas!

Those plates are pretty expensive from what I've heard. You're probably better off just getting a decal.

"proposed." If Mav fan, Faker fan, and Rox fan all get all apoplectic and vote against it, there's a chance it might not be offered. Seems unlikely, but you never know.

I don't care for the freaking commercial plates (Mighty Fine burgers? Texas Roadhouse? GMAFB!) and the non-Texas college plates that are being offered, but it's all about making money for "MyPlates." The state gets a cut but basically MyPlates skims a huge portion off the top for fulfilling requests. As I understand it, the plates are actually made on the exact same production line DMV uses. I truly do not understand the value add for either the state or the consumer. How hard can it be to create these new designs, anyway?

They are pricey if you add a custom plate message. If you are just choosing a specialty background but using regular numbers the price is reasonable.

I have yet to hear when the Spurs plates are expected to become available. Hopefully before the end of the year.

I'm surprised the Spurs finally ponied up the money. IIRC, the delay was because whomever the plate is for (Spurs, college, restaurant, etc) has to pay $X upfront to get their plate made and the Spurs refused to do it for years... I believe the Spurs were/are the last major pro team in Texas to get a plate by at least a few years. All it takes is money to get on a plate though... hence the out-of-state colleges with plates already (I see Nebraska, LSU and Florida everywhere in Austin).

$55 per year unless you pony up for 5 years ($195) or 10 ($295).

The freaking FORT WORTH CATS (independent minor league baseball) will have a plate before the Spurs. As will Freebird Burritos. Lake Dallas ISD. And Ignite Energy. What a joke.

Kinda lame you can't get them handicapped. My mom was thinking about them, but my dad has ALS, so it wouldn't work.
