nothing better to talk about, so here goes nothing:

if the spurs wanted to trade up during draft day, what is the highest number (or average number - one of them) that the spurs could get by offering gary neal in a trade?

i'm not saying i want neal to go. he played very well for our expectations of him.

sooooo....what would be the point, if you're not wanting him to go? He won't bring much, and I wouldn't trade up in this draft anyway...Neal is fearless...we will still need that next year. This draft absolutely sucks, so trading up would be stupid...

i do not want neal to go. oh, i already said that. i just don't follow neither the college nor the international basketball scene and i heard most "experts" claim that the draft is weak. thus, i am merely curious of the value of gary neal (since we went undrafted) in relation to the current draft.

is he 6-10 material? 11-15? or is the draft so weak that he could go top 5?

so would i. so then what is the best sure thing in the draft and/or the most intriguing prospect (that would motivate the risk) for which those teams would be willing to trade for gary neal?

Gary Neal is nearly priceless right now, I see absolutely no reason to trade him for anything. His contract is too small and he's one of the few Spurs players that has balls enough to perform when it counts. It would be like trading a happy meal for an unidentified grab bag from the H-E-B deli. After the deli has closed. And the food has been sitting out for a few hours.

But he could be used as a sweetener to get rid of other bad contracts (RJ/Bonner/etc) and bring in a stud player.

I think he could be traded for a pick around #10...he looked like a #3-#5 but other teams would be hesitant, that its the spurs system.

BUT no one really wants to trade him!!!

Neal stays. Players like him are hard to come by. He has something the average player doesn't have. HEART. You can't teach that. If RJ and a few other spurs had the heart of neal we wouldn't be talking about trades. We would be talking about our next game. His talent doesn't compare to RJs but what does talent mean if heart doesn't follow it. NEAL WITH IT

That's like trading in a perfectly good car that gets great gas mileage and is paid for, that has low maintenance and does everything you want, for a car you have to make payments on even if it doesn't work.
