I've watched it a few times. JT was defending against Wade at the top of the key and got lost. I cannot make it make sense otherwise. He got to ball watching.

I don't know what was going through James and Wade's head down the stretch in this game. Why they started settling for contested long range 3's is beyond me.
Because they are immature and often cannot finish games against good teams. Early in the season Atlanta rolled their ass after they were up really big (30 or something like that). That happened a few times to them. They get up double digits and start the celebrations ala Kevin Durant. It's about closing, and a few of the Mavs understand that (Kidd, Dirk, JT) because they've failed to close so many times that they don't flinch when they get leads. Their game doesn't change.

Also, their premature celebration in front of the Mavs bench only served to piss off the Mavs and made them even more determined to win the game. I wonder if Spoelstra will address that? Kinda stupid to strut and celebrate when there was still more than half the quarter to go. The Heat deserved to lose after that!

Spo was telling them all game that they were not doing enough, that they cannot rest. He was telling them it's a grind, don't take the Mavs lightly. They didn't listen. Someone needs to call Commissioner Gordon.

Kidd had been screened out of the play. Terry switched. Chalmers got open because Kidd didn't identify the switch early on. Watch the video. Kidd was around the FT line with multiple Heat twixt he and Wade. Terry, albeit likely in ignorance, made a smart play by identifying the need to deny Wade at the top of the arc. It should have been something discussed for the defense that if screened off Wade, Kidd retreats and the roaming Terry jumps out in defense.

It was a broken defensive play all around, but Terry sticks with Chalmers, then Wade gets the ball atop the arc and after the game he had, I think you'd rather Chalmers take the shot.

Or, with a timeout to go defense/offense, Carlisle should have had Stevenson in the game, then called timeout to reinsert Terry for offense.

IMO, this falls mostly on Carlisle, first for not having the better defensive personnel in the game, and, next for not having discussed the likely scenario of a double screen that frees up Wade and how to properly defend it.

Weren't the Mavs down to 1 timeout at that point?

Poor coaching and management by Spo tbh. He called timeouts way to often. He was up 15 and the Mavs score once or twice and he calls a timeout. Then he's out of timeouts with 24.5 seconds left in a tie ball game.

Also, I thought the Heat had a foul to give. Why didn't they foul Kidd up top and force him to inbound the ball?

They sure knew how to close out Boston and Miami. Tonight was just a cluster of brain farts by both Wade AND James, that and an epic comeback by the Mavs...

I laughed at the announcers talking about Terry during that play and when he was trying to guard LBJ full court. They were wondering wtf he was doing.

That 3 ball from Chalmers made the game more exciting though, if not for that then it would just be free throws for the next 5 minutes.

The defensive lapse was one thing, but the full court by Terry actually slowed James down enough to make a short shot clock which reduces options for the Heat. With a full shot clock, the Heat are great at finding open shooters or getting to the rim. With pressure based on time to shoot, James and Wade go into savior mode.

Yep, and maybe because they wanted to be the hero and hoped to "electricify" the crowd by hitting some long range, unbalanced 3 (stupid shot) that would had given Miami the lead/win. Both of those guys are arrogant jerks and I hope this game comes back to bite them. I guess driving to the basket and drawing the foul and winning at the free throw line is not dramatic enough for these two pricks.

The announcers were acting like he was struck dumb when he was guarding LBJ. That made me laugh kinda, they were talking crap about Terry a lot.

Like another said, I felt Dallas could and would score again. I didn't anticipate overtime at all. Had the Heat won in OT though, everyone would have blamed Terry. If the Mavs hadn't have fallen behind by 15, they might have won by 15.

I thought that Dirk should have tons of credit if the Mavs win this championship with this pos as 2nd option
I mean 1995' Hakeem or 2003' Duncan kind of credit

Pretty much. If LeBron, Wade, Bosh, ANYONE on that team would've taken at least 2 or 3 better shots than what they did, they win the game. But they settled for outside jump shots over and over and over again, and it cost them the game....
